i honestly do want to hear a taeyang version. he has been sounding really good live this cycle of promotions and i like it when men sing songs sung originally by women.
and i think he has shown that he can gyrate on the ground just like madonna did back when taeyang wasn't even a glint in his parents eyes. lol!
um why is everyone complimenting their pronunciation? dara grew up in the philippines where we speak ENGLISH and tagalog. CL lived in america. bom went to college in america. minzy is the only one that doesn't sound natural in english normally...so it's not like this is new news that they can speak english well.
but seriously wtf is this. i wanted to stan 2ne1 until i die, but i just can't.
Anyone can SING without an accent. It's a lot harder speaking without an accent, but singing is like breathing...even TATU, Shakira, country artists, British artists, etc can pull off singing in American English without any sort of identifying accent..it's not hard. Not to mention, half of 2NE1 lived here long enough that they wouldn't have an accent. CL and Bom both speak English without accents flawlessly on 2NE1 tv. Dara lived in the Philippines long enough that she wouldn't have an accent either unless she never spoke anything other than Korean.
I think it's pretty racist in general to assume that someone can't adapt to their environment just because it isn't their first language and even more rude to be impressed by it, as if they as a race are uncapable of not sounding FOP-ish.
I'm not saying you necessarily are, I'm talking about everyone--judging by the vast amount of comments applauding their English skills, as if they never spoke it before, I'm offended as an Asian-American. They've proven in the past that they can speak English, and they have a history in English speaking countries so why is this news? I agree, Minzy did not speak English very well but in general singing and speaking are not the same thing. People can karaoke songs perfectly that they wouldn't be able to pronounce in a normal conversation. I just find it offensive that people are applauding this like it's an impossible feat for an Asian to do...
but anyway I'm done. I'm disappointed with where YG has taken 2NE1's image in Japan...I'm like this close " " to rescinding my Stan status lol.
i thought they wouldn't ever change :( like i thought that's what we all liked 2ne1 for and appreciated them for being unique...but it seems like YG is just trying to make them into balmain-christopher kane barbie dolls for the japan promos...it's really disappointing seeing their personalities and even their voices fade while they homogenize them like all the other girl groups out there.
i want real 2ne1 when they come to the US, not this "let's all wear the same outfit" shit. :P
i liked scream i guess, but i really hope the japan thing wasn't a permanent change.
Because usually CL is the only one with clear (Americanized) English pronunciation. Dara may speak English, but she still has an accent and is hesitant in what little English she has spoken; Bom may be fluent, but she slurs her words like crazy; and Minji has a strong accent which can be sometimes unclear.
I'm pretty sure CL told those Suju dudes with the radio show that she learned English in a international school in Japan, not in America. Iirc, she has never lived in America either.
