Although allkpop is devoted to bringing you the best of Korean entertainment news, sometimes we can’t help but share up-and-coming talents that we think our readers will love. Meet Dia Frampton, a Hapa (half-Korean, half-white) American singer rapidly on the rise.
Originally from Utah and Las Vegas, the 24 year old graduated early in order to fully concentrate on her music career. Dia has been part of the rock band ‘Meg & Dia‘ with her sister Megan since 2003, with Dia taking on lead vocals and keyboard and Meg with vocals and rhythm guitar. Dia Frampton has since gained national fame as a contestant of the first season of NBC’s ‘The Voice‘, advancing through the quarter-finals, semi-finals and season finale to claim the spot of runner-up. Her renditions of “Heartless”, “Losing My Religion” and “Inventing Shadows” (the latter an original by Fraser T. Smith), were the highest charting digital songs on iTunes by a contestant during the voting period of the show, with “Inventing Shadows” even claiming the #1 spot on the charts.

After a successful run on the first season of NBC’s singing reality show ‘The Voice‘ last year, Dia Frampton released her single, “The Broken Ones”, and her first solo album, ‘Red’, to end 2011 with a bang.
Now, Dia Frampton has turned to k-pop to reveal her beautiful rendition of 2NE1‘s acoustic ballad,“Lonely”. The track’s emotional lyrics and subdued instrumental fused with Dia’s unique and stirring vocals certainly delivered an incredible performance that we’re excited to reveal to you all today. Yah I highly doubt she's breaking her back trying to make it in the kpop industry when Blake Shelton's practically adopted her. And I can't believe I've been listening to meg and dia for like...6 years now. I usually get sick of bands fast.

I'm just glad she's been talking with her cousins & they've seemed to drag her into Kpop b/c I've always wondered how she wound sound singing some these songs. Now I know :D
