*They would sell even if they weren't good looking! TVXQ's singing ability is worth its value in money
TVXQ, an accapella dance group from Korea, and who attended last year's Kouhaku Uta Gassen, can be said to be the representative of "Global J-pop" with their impressive harmonizing.
Maybe fans will say it's bullNUMBER 2, but to me, if you can sing, you'll be able to sell even if you weren't good looking, right?
*Their new song [Bolero], is a great ballad that showcases their super vocals.
What surprised me was that compared to other J-pop ballads, the feeling for this song is dark. The beat is slow, and there was no usage of guitars etc. Even so, the song gave off a dark and haunting vibe to me.
I like K-pop too, and I listen to it often, and there are of course other songs with dark vibes too. The difference with J-pop is that K-pop uses Classic music as it's foundation, thus naturally creating a melody with a dramatic feel.
At the "ending climax", one person (Jaejoong) uses an almost feminine pitch to produce the effect of harmonizing between men and women; the harmonization from the 5 of them is amazing!

Date: 2009-06-27 04:50 pm (UTC)what the hec is bullNUMBER 2 o_o;;
well I reread it and agree. I've gotten into other J-pop groups before but usually because of their looks/personality, their music was good but their singing was ... well not even average just OK? I guess in J-pop standards.
But that's why I lost interest in them, I was getting tired of their singing still not improving, and if their music is still not good then there's no reason to still stick to that fandom. With TVXQ, because their music is good, because they can sing I was able to keep interest. (well actually.. Avex can still give them a crappy song and I can still enjoy it because of their singing) I got into TVXQ not because of their looks but because they could sing, which is why I don't care if they sing japanese, korean, chinese, they all sound good in any language.
sorry for the long comment x_x I'm bored haha

Date: 2009-06-27 04:52 pm (UTC)i think the problem with idol groups is that appearances fade, and you lose fans if they depend on your aooearance to keep interested. when they start loving you for your music or talent, though, then it's something you have more control over lol
