2PM‘s Junho has recently returned from his volunteer activity in Ethiopia.
The first episode of EBS‘s new program ‘Global Project - Sharing’, featuring 2PM’s Junho, was recently aired on February 27th. The episode featured Junho’s volunteer trip to Ethiopia that took place in January. What surprised numerous viewers was that Junho had declined his vacation days to take part in the volunteer activity. These vacation days were the first official vacation days for Junho since his debut 4 years ago, which made his kind act all the more touching.
In Ethiopia, Junho was able to meet a child who he had been secretly sponsoring for the past year, and he gifted the child with a surprise present. He also met with people suffering from elephantiasis, a disease that causes their feet to develop thick skin like that of an elephant. He shared a special time with them by singing and dancing together, which touched the heart of the viewers.
Netizens commented, “I felt a lot of different emotions as I watched Junho. I hope our society becomes a society that exchanges more love” , “I hope viewers use this opportunity to become more involved with volunteering and feel the happiness that it can bring” , “My heart was touched as I was watching the show” and, “I reflected on myself and resolved to share happiness“.
In related news, ‘Sharing’ will continue as a global project through which celebrities can use their gifts and abilities to spread love.

2PM’s Junho Trades in Vacation for Volunteer Work
2PM member Junho’s recent travels to Ethiopia to do volunteer work have moved many people.
The idol group member traded in his first vacation since making his debut with 2PM four years ago to go to Ethiopia last January, and the trip was featured on the February 27 broadcast of EBS’ global project program Sharing.
The show captured Junho, with gifts In tow, meeting the Ethiopian child he had been quietly sponsoring for a year and the idol group member singing and dancing with a patient suffering from Elephantiasis, a rare disease that causes the skin and tissues to thicken.
Junho’s trip seems to have left a deep impression on viewers as they responded with comments like “I realized many things after watching Junho. I hope we become a society that shares the love,” “I hope people will take an interest in volunteerism through this and find happiness in life,” “It pulled at my heartstrings the whole time I was watching,” “It was an opportunity for self-reflection” and “I want to join [those]on the road of sharing happiness.”
Sharing is a program where celebrities are given the opportunity to share the love through their talent. Singer Hareem, Oksang Dalbit, Joa Band and other Hongdae indie musicians recently traveled to Zambia to share the love.

Date: 2012-03-03 08:21 pm (UTC)I get the stigma that there are artists doing voluntary work just for media attention and fame but sometimes it irks me that most people only comment about it looking at the artists' POV but regardless of whether they do it for attention or not.. it still helps the cause in a substantial way.

Date: 2012-03-03 08:51 pm (UTC)Regardless of whatever media attention stars get when doing voluntary work, it makes people aware and most times fan clubs and such join to help such causes, so I think it's good job they actually publicize it, imo.

Date: 2012-03-03 11:54 pm (UTC)From that piece:
"We cautiously suggested to EBS doing a newly planned "Global Project Sharing" programme. Our helper Junho was worried about whether there was any chance of causing damage or inconveniencing the residents of Ethiopia due to the filming. After worrying for a while, we thought that even if one person who had seen the broadcast could help a child in difficulty it would be great, and so decided with the broadcast team to go through with it. Of course, under the condition that the staff would cause the minimum amount of disruption there."

For idols i don't like I just don't bother reading their articles. If you feel if you post negatively about him everywhere will make him go away well then think of something else. You might say I'm defending him cus im his fan well everyone has a right to.
