Kang Ho Dong donates his Pyeongchang real estate land to charity

Kang Ho Dong has donated his entire Pyeongchang real estate land to the Asan Hospital Social Welfare Center.

A source close to Kang Ho Dong remarked on February 28th, “Kang Ho Dong thought a lot about what he should do about his land that was swept into controversy. He discussed it with his acquaintances and his family members, and decided to donate it all to Asan Hospital as he’s always loved kids and wants to be able to assist children in some way.”

Kang Ho Dong is known to have volunteered at Asan Hospital for the last three years. He frequently visited the hospital to spend time with the sick children and plant love and hope into their hearts.

“He did not purchase the land thinking it would come under speculation, but an unexpected misunderstanding had occurred. He is extremely uneasy and deeply apologetic regarding these matters,” the source continued.

Kang Ho Dong purchased the real estate in two parts, once in 2009 for around $700,000 and again in 2011 for around $1,300,000 and revealed that it was a long-term investment.

That was really generous of him. Illegally obtained or not, that is alot to donate to charity. I hope this makes the children really happy. I also hope this marks the comeback of Kang Ho Dong. I love that guy. He had already been forgiven by me when the scandal first came out. Still, I appreciate that hes taken this so seriously.

I still don't understand what the issue is.....if he wants to buy land, he can buy land. Why was this a controversy, again??? Obviously it's a good move, since the Olympics will be held there in 2018. Can anyone explain this whole thing to me???

Wasn't the issue that he didn't pay enough in taxes for the property? I think it's kind of ridiculous that he felt he had to donate the land and that amount of money to be forgiven.

I miss him. I'm not sure I really get what happened, but I have a general impression this was all blown way out of proportion. Depending on the size of the screw-up, people should just be able to apologize, fix whatever needs to be fixed and move on with their lives and careers. Does he really need to sell all his property and go into hiding like this? I mean, was he stealing money from cancer research or something?

It's really lovely that he's donating it to the charity he's been working with for some time now, I'm sure it will be put to good use!
It makes me sad though that he feels like he still has to apologise for this mess when he didn't even do anything wrong in the first place :(

Wasn't it eventually revealed that it was a mistake & not tax corruption like it was initially reported?
This wasn't really necessary because it looks like he still thinks he needs to "redeem" himself, but it's a really sweet thing to do & I hope it provides stability for those kids :)
