Fans who have liked Shinhwa since 1998 must be feeling that these are very different times. During the long period of 14 years, fan culture has changed as much as the world itself.

It seems like just yesterday when high speed internet was not yet readily available, and we had to connect to the fanclubs on PC communication networks via phone line dial-up without our parents knowing, and then having to worry more about the phone bill than our results. Now it only takes one click to see all the updates and photos of the members, and also interact with other fans.

Who could have imagined Flash images and animations? We just recorded shows on video tapes and repeatedly watched our favorite scenes. In place of the magazines and newspapers that occupied a corner of our rooms, we now have scans that can be saved and filed neatly, with no danger of being thrown out as wastepaper.

Times are changing, and so are the fans’ loyalties. But it’s the memories and sentiments from these 14 years that are most important. We’ve summarized those memories in one page. Let’s fill in the little gaps here and there together. Individual activities are not included. If we put those in too, we might as well publish ‘The History of Shinhwa’.

The boy groups that dominated the 90s together with them have disappeared, and they’ve survived disbandment rumors and military service. Before we knew it, the world now has kids younger than Shinhwa by 12 years who have debuted as idols. But well, is that important? The group still has 6 members, and they’re still Shinhwa. Like this, let’s walk towards the members’ 60th birthday banquets and dinner show then.

The chronicles of 6-member group Shinhwa who made their debut on 24 March 1998 (excluding individual activities). The events listed in the left panel charts the changes in media that influenced fans' activities and the changes in the boy group scene.

I love how their music got better once they left SM as they started producing their own songs.

I remember when Perfect Man first came out. Current K-pop craze aside, it was such a high point for international Korean fandom. EVERYONE loved it (as they should) and was singing it and supporting it regardless of whether you were a Rain or Se7en or Hyori stan. Sigh it was magic.

I don't like the first 3 albums-era for the most part (a few songs stick out, like Wedding March and ESPECIALLY Prayer, but I am ridiculously attached to ballads), but Shinhwa's 'prime' to me was 4th-7th albums.

NEVER FORGET PERFECT MAN! The photos in that album were so amazing. Made me want a neck tattoo just like Minwoo. Even if it was just a fake one like his...

shinwha was more my sister's age, but it still holds a lot of fond memories of lying in her bed and flicking through their photos

just a quick question - what generation of kpop groups are we in now if, say, 2pm/shinee was 3rd?

I dunno, maybe 4th? SHINee and 2PM were already the tail-end of the 2nd gen that DBSK started, so most consider them the start of the 3rd gen.

hm i kind of remember people saying infinite heralded the fourth, so maybe with exo and jr/jb and yg's snsd like group debuting this year they'll pave the way for the fifth

Wow, I already knew that Shinhwa have been around for a long time and accomplished a lot but it's really something seeing their career so far summarised like that! It really emphasises the wealth of experience they have behind them.
Thanks for adding the video recap of their albums, I don't know that many Shinhwa songs tbh so it's nice getting a taster of their work over the years. I agree with you about how their music got better and better once they were in charge and it gets me all the more excited to hear their new music!! ^^

Have never heard any Shinhwa music in my life, but after listening to that recap of their songs ... I can sort of understand.
So happy for all of you Omonians who finally get your Shinhwa comeback :)

lol I got into k-pop 2010 but I've discovered them instantly, still not knowing much about them but I always liked their music and majority of members' solo efforts were great too.

Watching this only confirmed my belief that Brand New, Wild Eyes, Hero, Hey, Dude!, Run, Throw My First and Perfect Man are orgasmic, especially the first song omg wsebhgfdjfdef 2nd favorite korean song ever
