Girl group T-ara will finally hold an opening ceremony for their official fan club and have a large-scale concert this summer, 3 years after their debut.

T-ara debuted in 2009 with their single “Lies,” and continuously had a succession of hit songs in a span of 3 years, such as “Bo Peep Bo Peep,” “Why are You Being Like This,” “I Go Crazy Because of You,” “Roly-Poly, “Cry Cry,” “We Were in Love,” and “Lovey-Dovey.”

Kim Kwang Soo, the CEO of Core Contents Media, stated that “Around the beginning of this July, T-ara will have an opening ceremony for the official fan club they have been wishing for all this time, and they are planning to meet fans with a new album.” He continued, “Towards the end of July, they will have a large-scale concert to celebrate the 3rd anniversary of their debut.”

CEO Kim Kwang Soo, who won ‘Producer of the Year’ for “Roly Poly” at Gaon Chart’s Award Ceremony, helped propel the T-ara girls to fame with their ‘cat dance’ for “Bo Peep Bo Peep,” disco dance for “Roly Poly,” and shuffle dance for “Lovey-Dovey,” and has now started to think and worry about what kind of music and dance T-ara will use to show another image transformation.

The girls themselves stated, “We were already off to a great start for the year after we won the triple crown for ‘Lovey-Dovey,’ and now we’re going to have the official opening of our fan club and hold a large-scale concert this summer; we’re already so excited and nervous.”

I'm starting to wonder if each member has a clone and they rotate. That's the only explanation I found.

That or robots.

How famous are these girls now, after all these promotions? Like, they've gotten their triple crown, yes, so what kind of fanbase do they have?

ps. WTF they need to rest.

They pretty well known in the public now. They've been ranking in the top 5 on group polls lately.
Fans in Korea are so scattered, so don't really know until July when they have a fanclub to back up their new album.
But international wise, tiaradiadem just hit 31K members yesterday.

p.s. I agree.

Awesome, thanks.

Top 5, though? Really? ... I mean, they're good, but I can name more than 5 better groups, unless you mean top 5 girl groups, to which I would agree.

Well given the fact that they are having a concert I'd say they are pretty big. Only 4 girl groups so far have held their won concerts: SNSD, WG, 2NE1, and Kara. Now T-ara have this.

Date: 2012-02-27 12:46 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] vvipforseungri.livejournal.com
True. Though didn't Kara have problems selling tix?

Considering SNSD/WG/2NE1 had the Big 3 backing them up, this is quite a feat for T-ara. We'll see how well it goes, though.

Same kind applies to Kara, they didn't have anyone but DSP backing them. Kara's Korean concert was okay, but they are doing a whole Asia tour. Their Japanese stop will probably be filled, many Japanese fans are loyal to their faves.

Tho i think its important to note that Secret and After School will be holding concerts soon...just in Japan and smaller venues.

Yeah, I'm just wondering if they're (or any other group, really) big enough that a concert would be profitable at all. For example Kara (except for in Japan, since they're huge there).

Date: 2012-02-27 01:58 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] toomanysides.livejournal.com
depends on the venue. the biggest solos is at olympic stadium... which 2ne1 hasn't attempted at all. kara didn't do a concert for profit. they needed to do one before japan ones and gyuri needed to do her surgery. so kara was stuck doing a concert in the winter. pretty reasonable that only hardcore fans showed up (9k both nights isn't bad but it was just not sold out). with sponsors and merchandise, it was def profitable.

From: [identity profile] vvipforseungri.livejournal.com
But is an "asia tour" really... sensible? I mean, sure, small venues are cool, but if you're not yet huge then why bother with an asia tour? It's just not worth the effort, imo. Tour 'em when they can afford to go to places like Olympic Stadium before sending them out.

I guess what I'm trying to say is rather than a bunch of little venues, wait until you can get one big venue. Less effort, more profit (in the end).

Date: 2012-02-27 02:17 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] toomanysides.livejournal.com
um KARA did do olympic stadium. sorry i wasn't clear. snsd, wg, and kara all did solos at olympic.there is only like 8-9 active kpop acts that have done a solo there.

KARA's tour in japan is basically 10 concerts in ~10-14k capacity venues. which isn't huge like tokyo dome (40k) but 10k is pretty much large as you can get for an intimate affair. those venues might just not be cost effective. and tokyo dome is more prestigious if you are invited rather than just renting it out.

Doing one stop in China, Hongkong, Taiwan, Thailand etc just makes it an Asian tour. Not everything is about profit. Image is pretty important, and DSP and KARA is kinda still recovering their for the littlle fiasco last year. KARA makes enough bank in japan and this prob doubles as a vacay for them.

I suppose... idk I guess if it works out for Kara then I'm good. Just interested in seeing two groups that haven't established themselves as "top idol groups" doing solo concerts. Wonder how well things will go.

curious to know what part of kara doesn't constitute as top idol group material?

No, I mean like not-big-3-backed groups. Ie. bb/2ne1/suju/snsd/2pm/wg/etcetcetc

well dsp was sm's rival before it was the big 3. so.. it's not like they are total noobs at this. ss501 did an asian tour too just two years ago.

True. Well, I hope for the best for their tour then (lol while i'm anxiously waiting for bb's worldwide).

God, do I miss ss501.

oh i thought they only did an american tour. and i remembered reading articles about how snsd was the second female act to hold a solo concert after lee hyori so i thought the wonder girls didn't bother with that. what was the set list like lol?

Rumor is that it's gonna be their 2nd full album.
I'm happy if it turns out to be true, but was hoping they made a comeback in the Fall instead so they had more rest.

not sure what is the point of letting them have a solo concert when they are crap performers but whatever i'm so excited cause i love looking at setlists. and they'd probably do a million covers and it'll make me so happy.

and yay for a fanclub finally!!

they are so much more popular than I previously thought. good for them :D
but seriously they're gonna run out of steam if they keep going like this

they are easily one of my favorite groups, and I seriously don't get this whole 'omg give them a break' reaction. they're professionals, they've been trained for this, it's their job-they were told this would be their schedule from day one. I trust them+think they're prepared. not to mention, without acting work, they'll have loads of free time! and above all this is what they enjoy as far as I'm aware.

From: [identity profile] prdarkstar.livejournal.com
You should let them know that so they'll stop complaining on TV about how busy their schedule is then

well r.i.p t-ara then. ngl though i hope it's a full album, their 1st one is still the best thing they've ever done.
