P.O.'s Diagnosis

DISCLAIMER: Please note that Brand New Stardom and Block B have not released an official statement regarding this matter. P.O's condition is NOT THE SAME as the classic depiction of schizophrenia. His diagnosis is very minor and was brought on by stress and shock. He did not have a pre-existing condition.

"The diagnosis of Block B's P.O (real name Pyo Jihoon, 19), who was hospitalized as a result of public criticism against their inappropriate interview with Thailand media, has been revealed.

Through a call with W Star News from a representative of Block B's management BrandnewStardom, it was explained that, "The results of P.O's diagnostic tests, who is currently admitted to a university hospital, has come out. The psychiatric expert's opinion is that it's stress-induced schizophrenia. It looks like the immediate cause of it would be excessive cyber-bullying." The official added that while his condition is not critical, his improvement shall be further monitored before other arrangements are made.

"We hope there will be no more criticisms arising from mere speculations. Although we had hoped to not expose the hospital, fans are already moving (to visit him). Because it is now the weekend, it would also be difficult to move him to another hospital. " He continued, expressing their helplessness in the situation.

Regarding the other members of Block B, he relayed that, "The kids were ignorant and rash but the reactions have been too severe. At present they are very anxious and look very pitiful." He avoided responding to questions about Block B's future activities."

everyone's curious about his condition, sure as it is. some people are probably doubting it too, but publicising his personal medical and psychiatric diagnosis doesn't seem right. perhaps a more vague general condition diagnosis should suffice... I understand that everyone's demanding to know, but i think its his right to privacy. or maybe, celebrities aren't entitled to any at all :( at least i hope people leave him/them alone now. and i hope no one's gonna call him a schizo and be nasty about it. cos thats gonna hurt him real bad, in his current condition.

Just so everybody knows -

Stress-induced schizophrenia is a real thing. We don't necessarily call in schizophrenia but it's more like a severe panic disorder.

I know this is a terrible thing to happen to somebody at a young age, as I have experienced it myself. My heart breaks for P.O. and I'm praying for him.

I see. could you share more? whats the difference between p.o's stress-induced schizophrenia and severe panic disorder? I mean, if it resembles panic disorder more, why call it stress induced schizophrenia? Sorry for the tirade of questions, but i'm curious and a brief google on stress induced schizophrenia turns up nothing much. only info on schizo shows up...

people should really back off. yes the boys said some stupid things, but it's not like it's anything unforgivable. the people who started and signed that suicide petition are far far worse. people really make me sick sometimes. i wish him all the best and i hope he knows that people care for him, i can't imagine that many people telling me to go die.

I was thinking the same thing. They're making things worse by revealing the exact diagnosis because people are going to pick on it again. And the last thing PO needs is for people to make fun of his condition because it hurts and it's going to put another strain on him. The company could have at least said mental exhaustion or something. Sigh, I really feel for him. And he wasn't even the one who was disrespectful, but it's taking a toll on him.

Well this sucks, and I hope everyone drove him to this breakdown feels like an ass, but being diagnosed with schizophrenia isn't the end of the world. I mean, if its true, since it's not official, as long as its controlled, he's totally going to live a completely functional, normal person. i do find it weird that he just suddenly has it, but my sister, who's a psychologist, says that its a real thing, and its like, he had it to begin with but the stress like, triggered it? or made it worse, or something. I cant remember exactly. poor kid though, My heart for him and his family.

For him to be diagnosed as schizophrenic overnight is not plausible. For any real serious psychological problem, one must show consistent symptoms for about 6 months so for this to really be schizophrenia he would have had to have been diagnosed already, been under treatment yet have the stress make it active again.

Revealing his diagnosis seems illegal! Don't idols have basic human rights anymore? I mean I wouldn't want my diagnosis to be made public like this or even told to my friends. It is deeply personal and hard enough to deal with, without the entire world knowing. :(
