Block B, who is currently embroiled in controversy for their behavior towards the Thai and Japanese media, has taken to the stage again within a day of releasing their formal apology. The performance in question is MBC Music's "Show Champion," which was broadcasted live on February 21st.

On that day, Block B made no reference of any sort to the furor; instead they concentrated fully on their performance. Leader Zico, who shaved his head in a show of self-reflection, chose not to wear a hat, and accordingly was the center of the reporters' attention. After their performance, Block B bowed deeply to the audience and left the stage wordlessly.

In most cases making a public appearance so soon would be considered hasty.

Brandnew Stardom, Block B's agency, spoke up on this. They stated, "We had a very deep discussion with Block B about their activities after the controversy broke out. We came to an agreement that the best Block B can do right now is to show everyone that they are working even harder than before."

They continued with, "To be honest, for a rookie group to halt all activities two weeks after their comeback is as good as the end of the road for them. The members thought that if they stop all activities now, they may never have the chance to perform again, and so they came to this decision after much difficulty."

Block B will be making further appearances on M! Countdown on February 23rd and other music programs this week

Although I still think that this "joke" was rude and insensitive I can see why they want to perform.
They're a rookie group and it is true that a hiatus would be the end of them.
Not that I care but I guess they have fans.

True, there's no sense in killing their careers just to show they're sorry. Anti-fans are already trying to do that.

The only thing killing Block B's career is Block B.

Dropping them for one little mistake seems a bit harsh. Maybe if I don't know, one of them had a drug scandal or something, but not for acting unprofessional and making a stupid comment. It was a mistake I'm sure they learned from.

block b gon be absolutely fine, they've just lost a very potentially lucrative/loyal fanbase in thailand, is all

if they follow through and reel in zico/kyung's behavior i can't see them failing hard tbh, especially now that people actually know who they are

I'm glad they didn't roll over and die from this.

Plus everything was blown way out of proportion anyway.

It's better for them to just keep on performing rather than hide for 6 or so months. They already apologize fot their behavior so .... I ain't mad.

I think it's fine that they're performing. They've already appoligized and it seems like they realize how truly ridiculous they appeared in the interview. Other celebrities have done much worse with much worse intentions. This was a mistake on their parts, no need to harp on it and try to kill their careers.

I'm really shocked about how people seem to be crawling up their asses and dieing considering some of things other idols say unapologetically.

Do poeple want to kill them because they made a mistake or something?
Man let them breathe. We got it, they got it, now all the artists ignoring them and Dongho adding his shit is imo STUPID. Some rookies that are now famous say stupid sexist things as well.
It sounds like ppl just needed to show which side they are 1!!1
I bet some of these idols have said racist things about other asian countries. I actually heard about one particular idol... Ppl are fucking hypocrites.

And Kyung needs to gtfo that's all. This boy freaks me out tbh.

I ain't even a Block B's fan.

They made a mistake and owned up to it.. and I don't think it's worth stopping all their activities for that. They didn't commit a felony. They acted carelessly but doesn't mean that they need to be banned from the entertainment business. If they continue their attitudes however.... well it's up to them if they wanna make or break their career really. But halting all activities is OTT IMO.

I actually like all the block b members except for Zico and Kyung. Those are the two that act out the most I always thought. The others seems to have a lot more respect/common sense.

I don't agree to Block B's behaviour at all but what really irks me are the good old double standards that reappear yet again when it comes to the backlash they get.
I can think of a couple of artists that said worse and didn't get half the slack Block B got.

It's great that people are actually calling others out but how about we dish out fair treatment? I know I'm asking too much tho

Imo they should maybe take a week or so off, anyway they've apologised and Zico has shown remorse for making a joke when he should have been serious. But good god people say dumb shit, let's move on.

But I will say they need to tone down the dumb behaviour, I saw one of them mooning the camera in the interview, there are other ways to be different people, quote Kafka if you're that desperate to stand out.

I'm happy to see them standing on stage like this. I just hope that Kyung and Zico they will all have learned something from this and remember it in the future.

I just want this to be over already tbh. :/ Kyung and Zico need to get their act together. They seemed sincere in their apologies and are reflecting on it, people need to calm down, this has totally been blown out of proportion. They shouldn't have to stop all their activities because of this, especially when there are other idols/celebs that have done/said way worse recently and are still participating in their activities.

Date: 2012-02-22 09:05 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] iznanassi.livejournal.com
They said they're sorry, and it's definitely not a bs apology.

I feel extremely insensitive saying this but, get over it. It's not like they wish ill-will against any of the victims, even though their actions were inappropriate. After chastising them so much, they're trying to correct their wrongs.

From: [identity profile] jaerotic.livejournal.com
Plenty of BBCs know they were wrong. Plenty were very disappointed in them. But they have owned up to their mistakes more than other idols usually had before. I just want peace tbh. It's hard coming back to twitter to find all this drama and hate I would rather not participate in because too many people on both sides are quick to judge and anger yet slow to forgive.

tbh the only thing making this situation worse is their fans. personally i'm done being "mad" about his comments because (if he did shave his head) he seems genuinely remorseful. it just doesn't seem that way because everyone involved with block b is throwing gas on the fire. i'm going to still listen to their music and whatever (we all do stupid things and i accept that his comments were insensitive and i'm just going to move on but you can have a different opinion) but i swear to god i will never like their fanclub

He did shave his head. You can see it here.

That video makes me sad. Literally none of them are smiling, and Kyung can't even seem to project into his own microphone.
