Swizz Beatz has expressed his will to produce a collaboration between Korean girl group ~=*♥ [[ 2 N E 1 ]]♥*=~ and U.S. pop star Rihanna.
At a press conference held in Seoul on Monday announcing a partnership between Swizz Beatz’ production company and local media agency O&media, Beatz told 10Asia that teaming up 2NE1 with Rihanna is one of his many goals.
“K-pop stars have a lot of potential....... I found a new expression in K-pop. The world is open for new things,” he told the magazine. “This partnership is the beginning of history.”
A producer, designer, rapper, DJ, painter, CEO, professor and marketing manager, Swizz Beatz, one of the most talented figures Hollywood, is taking another leap by attempting to bridge the music world between East and West. Through the partnership with the agency in Korea, Beatz will be producing albums from the two countries and assisting them on entering each other's market as well as making cross-region collaborations with A-list musicians.
Separately, the companies stated in a press release that artists from both firms including Alicia Keys, who is also the wife of Beatz, are planning to produce joint albums under Beatz’ direction.
The agreement calls for the two companies' partnership in helping U.S. pop artists advance to the Asian market and new K-pop artists to the U.S. market, according to the local entertainment agency. The two sides also plan to produce joint albums of leading musicians of both countries, it said.
"My idea to bridge the world together with music starting in Asia and going to the West is something that is new, untapped and leading to the future of bringing the worlds together. And this partnership is the beginning in making a history," Beatz said. He said K-pop represented by such leading groups and singers as Kara, Big Bang, 2NE1 and Boa has already had many successes in Asia but can appeal to the world with help from the partnership.
Swizz Beatz, whose real name is Kasseem Dean, has produced pop albums for top celebrities, including Madonna, Britney Spears,Eminem, U2, Lady Gaga and Jay Z. The musician is also known for expanding his business to other industries such as film and art.
"I think the more we come together, the more that everybody as a musical voice can be heard because music, whether it's in hard times or good times, is always the No. 1 answer," he stressed.
To add to the fast-developing partnership of the two companies, they are currently training 15 soon-to-be artists to be unveiled in the latter half of this year. “We will be making a ground-breaking announcements happening in the near future,” the producer noted.
A nominee of last year’s Grammy Award’s Best Rap Performance, he also has worked with major world-class celebrities such as Madonna, Bono, U2, Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Jay Z and Eminem.
