A police report has come out stating that singer Wheesung, who is currently completing his military service, is involved in a smuggling investigation due to a car that he entrusted to a friend.

The police have three people in custody and are still investigating three others over the smuggling of luxury cars such as the Benz Maybach, Range Rovers, and Porches.

Under the pretense of test driving the luxury cars, these men are suspected of having sped the cars off to Hong Kong and stashing them away to smuggle into foreign countries.

In the police report of the cars that were being smuggled, Wheesung's car is included. The car in question was entrusted by Wheesung to a younger friend who then entrusted it to his own friend and it ended up being smuggled out of the country.

Wheesung's management company stated, "Through his friend, Wheesung had already sold this car" and "This car has nothing to do with Wheesung anymore. There are no damages to Wheesung from these events."

wait, so was the car "entrusted" or "sold" to the friend?

Also, what is car shopping like in Korea? Because this sounds like a stupid idea as where I'm from, there are cameras everywhere at dealerships, they take a copy of your license, and ride with you in the car...

I don't know about Korea, but we don't have any of that. When we test-drove our new car, we were allowed to drive it for a full 24 hours before we took it back. Sure, it wasn't a luxury car, but they didn't take any notification at all but for our names. :\ There is probably surveillance though.

No way! You didn't have to buy it or put it payments on it first???

Why would you pay for a car before you've driven it? Even putting on payments first seems backwards. We'd never driven a car like that before and we wanted to see if it could do the jobs we wanted it to (taking my mum to work, driving through town, going down to the beach, etc) before we actually paid for it. It would have been difficult if we'd bought it and then realised it was actually a rubbish car (it wasn't).
It may also be that we've been customers with them for 20 years, so they probably vaguely knew my mum anyway. That may make them more trusting, I guess? They also kept our old car with them. But there was no way they could have sent someone to test drive it with us, and no way we could have done the test drive officially in an hour. Maybe that's just the way it works where I'm from? It's not exactly possible to steal the car by driving it to another country (due to living on an island). It's also not possible to change the plates without people knowing.

Are they trying to get him involved in this? He is no way involved in this, just bad luck that he will never see that car again.
