Big Bang moves up 1 position to #3 on Oricon chart

5-member group Big Bang has risen up 1 position up to the 3rd position on Japan Oricon chart.

The title song ‘My Heaven’ off their Japanese debut single ‘My Heaven’ has went up to #3 on Oricon chart on 25th June one day after its release. The song has also went straight up to #4 on 24th June.

This seems to be an indicator that Big Bang’s promotions in Japan will be a good one.

Big Bang will also be appearing on SMAP member Cho NanKang’s show on Fuji TV on 26th June as part of their promotions.

The boys will also move on to release their 2nd Japanese single ‘Gara Gara GO’ on 8th July.

FYI. It's easy to make daily. Super Junior's gotten number one on the daily chart, same with many other singers. It's the weekly chart the people aim for and is practically impossible to get onto. We'll see how they do when the weekly comes around.

Yup, that's right. It's nice to see them doing well in daily ranking, but if you compare estimated number of sales of #1 (Yusuke - 50828) and #3 (Big Bang - 7021)..

*nods* It's always been the weekly that judges how popular and successful you are in Japan. I say if they're lucky, they'll cut it into the top twenty, but I doubt they'll be any higher.

But idol groups going up on the daily charts after the first day in Japan is rather rare, so this is a good sign. Eg, U/Twins debuted at 4 daily, and got 8 weekly because they went down.

Idol groups and big overseas singers can do well easily on the daily chart; it's because they have a following. It does not mean that following is large enough to get them onto Oricon, where the top sales in number one is usually 100,000 to 200,000 thousand on average, and they've probably sold about 10,000 to 20,000 so far. That's not significant, really, not to burst your bubble or anything, but Oricon is a tough and elitist chart if you know you're JPop, and although the internet has opened doors, it doesn't change the culture's preference when it comes to music or their preference for certain types of artists. And I don't even consider BB an idol group, more of a hip-hop ensemble.

agreed, people make way too big a deal out of dailies. SuJu has even done well on dailies, like you said, and then fallen to like #45 the next day. doesn't hurt that this week has had pretty much no big releases, too.
