Park Ji Yoon opens up about struggles with agencies + rumors of her past relationship with Kangta

Veteran singer Park Ji Yoon has revealed that she felt betrayed and abandoned by her former agencies.

On February 7th, Park Ji Yoon guested on cable channel Story On‘s talk show, ‘Lee Mi Sook’s Bad Scene’, where she opened up about her past struggles.

The singer began by explaining why she left her former agency, JYP Entertainment. “The period after my promotions for my 6th album, ‘I Know How‘, was around the time when my contract with the agency was supposed to end. I worked hard over the years, but I wasn’t thought of as family, and was left alone. It saddened me,” she said.

Since Park Ji Yoon withdrew from the music scene for a long while, MC Lee Mi Sook commented, “If you had remained at JYP, you might not have had to go through such hard times for the past six years.”

Park Ji Yoon replied, “It seemed like they didn’t really want me. Although talks of re-signing went back and forth, in the end, the deal fell apart.”

This wasn’t the end of her troubles. She continued, “I went into a new agency, and although I’m a person who was pretty well-known to the public, the CEO of the agency tried to persuade me to get plastic surgery… When I reflected upon the situation later on, I realized that they were trying to tell me that I should leave on my own. I was hurt.”

Park Ji Yoon will be participating in tvN‘s ‘Opera Star Season 2′, in addition to releasing her new album in mid-February.

Park Ji Yoon opened up about a dating rumor that spread like wild fire back in the 90′s.

The singer guest-featured on the February 7th episode of cable channel Story On‘s ‘Lee Mi Sook’s Bad Scene‘ and said, “There were some rumors that suggested I was dating H.O.T‘s Kangta. H.O.T was the greatest idol star at the time, and no matter what stage you were at, more than half of the fans in the stands were there to see H.O.T. When it was time for me to sing, they gave me evil stares holding their white balloons and cursed me out to my face. I was really afraid of them.”

When asked if she had ever received death threats, she answered, “No, no death threats. My friend Kan Mi Youn was in a similar situation, and she received letters from girls who told her they would kill her, and sent her pictures of her with her eyes scratched out. Thankfully for me, it never got to that extent.”

MC Kim Young Chul then asked, “How did that affect you on stage?”, to which Park Ji Yoon responded, “I was always concerned, and always nervous.”

Well, scandal is a strong word. But like her feeling outcasted prior to that, and just the bad feelings/stuff surrounding her end of contract. It's a shitty situation, and so many people leaving JYPE with these kinds of issues of abandonment/wtf.

It was a bit different with Lexy, her sales were terrible and the company had to make the harsh decision not to extend her contract. I think many people including YG himself were genuinely sad they couldn't renew her contract.

People are asking why she didn't resign with JYPE, and it's like, who wouldn't want to if they could, but if JYPE didn't really want her then maybe continuing with the company might not have seemed like the best option at the time.

I also focused on the face value of what they told her about plastic surgery and felt the CEO was a typical douche, but then when she mentioned the second part, the fact that she wasn't focused on being insulted by the plastic surgery comment but saw past that...she seems quite insightful really--but maybe it's just because I don't know her or how she is viewed in the industry (ie, like is she somewhat shunned or taboo for not resigning with JYPE, etc.).

I'm glad she will get to continue singing.
