On the January 29th episode of ’Girls’ Generation & Dangerous Teens‘, Hwang Yonghyun left the dormitory and show, giving up on trying to develop himself and change his life with the television program.

A staff member was forced to share the news with the ladies of Girls’ Generation while they were on a trip to Japan to receive an award at a ceremony.

“Sorry to be the bearer of bad news on such a joyous day,” he said. “I’m even more sorry towards YoonA and Hyoyeon but… Hwang Yonghyun has left.”

Upon hearing the news, Hyoyeon’s face immediately fell. ”I thought they were joking when they told me,” she said. “I was in such a good mood because we received an award in Japan, but the news was really shocking.”

She continued, “I thought that if YoonA and I tried to convince him to stay, he would…”

The girls were afraid of how this would impact the other boys, but the staff members said they would work harder to fill his shoes as well.

Viewers who watched the episode remarked, “Hope the rest of them stay and continue,” “He isn’t returning?”, “That’s too bad,” “I hope he returns soon,“ and more.

Aw :( Why did he leave though?

supposedly he was being mistreated by staff. He was sick during filming and was not given medicine though he had requested for medication multiple times.

You can read more about what supposedly happened here:

From 6th:
"I'll just post this on Yonghyun's (& the other boys') behalf:
http://blog.naver.co...gNo=90134517673 (for those who can read Korean)

The first part is a chat between Jisoo & his friend, the second part is Yonghyun's cyworld diary entries. From the boys' point of view it sounds like they feel like the show's using them to get ratings (which of course is true for any TV show). They complain that the staff don't listen to their requests (like when Yonghyun was sick they said they'd get him medicine but didn't & made him practice dancing instead), they promise not to film but they do and then they air it (they told Yonghyun to go out and celebrate his friend's birthday & kept the cameras waiting in front of the dorm to meet him after), and supposedly they cut out the part in the episode where the boys didn't get to go to the aquarium and the boys had a fight with the staff because they felt the staff were treating them as "tools" to get show ratings.

I won't say what he did was right but there's always more going on in a person's life than we see on a TV show. "

I feel sad about it, the only thing consoling me atm is the thought that at least it wasn't Jisoo.

I’m genuinely disgusted by what people are saying about him leaving the show, the bulk of them being immature fans calling him unappreciative/ungrateful for giving up a ~once in a lifetime opportunity to be mentored by SNSD. Or the fact that he’s missing his chance “to be a better person” and that he should be so lucky to be on a show with them.

Comparing him to the other guys is also unnecessary to be honest. They can't expect all 5 of them to be receptive to the tactics they use, and when one of them fails to show a difference in behaviour they boil it down to the fact that he's not trying hard enough as oppposed to something more serious.

I hope him leaving the show means he gets proper treatment (he agreed to counseling for a year right?). I wish Yonghyun all the best, though I fear the backlash that he will inevitably receive.

Daggggg....well there's no doubt the boys are being used for a television show. It sucks for the staff to ignore their small request's in order to make the show work out. But real talk, these boys have real issues. Is this how they go about trying to make a change in their life's ?

I feel bad for him especially if it's all true how the staff treated him. I'm not surprised he left and tbh I do feel like some stuff they did was just to get ratings and not actually out of care for the boys. ngl a show like this was never going to really address their behavioral issues and probably wasn't something that would really help them.

I do enjoy the interactions between the girls and the boys but the show has some issues. I wish him the best and hope can get the help he needs.

I only watched one of the episodes, and I can't remember if I finished it, but I didn't like what I saw. It was the one where they get some nut job therapist to give them therapy sessions, and it was disgusting, not just that they would broadcast those private thoughts on television, but also the way he was doing it was just plain creepy. I think it's good for Yonghyun that he was able to make that decision on his own, and that he didn't just stick with it to be famous. He was true to himself, and I think that's important.

ia. broadcasting their private therapy time was just... SMH. you only open up to your counsellor because u trust them to help you keep your inner scars and thoughts private. whoever who has issues certainly isnt looking to line their dirty linen outfront to be judged by the world and the public. e session was creepy but sorta interesting from an audience p.o.v, but i still think its kind of dirty to not respect their privacy.

It's terrible how the staff treats the boys but come to think of it I'm not very surprised. If they treat idols like shit I wouldn't expect them to treat anyone else any better.

If all this about staff treating him poorly is true, that's just so sad. The entertainment industry really is a disgusting place.

LoL bye!!! considering he was always making excuses i don't buy the idea of the staff treating him badly.. he proved he is the kind of person who throws a tantrum when he doesn't do what he wants to do, like his attitude when he couldn't go to the outing on episode 5, it was so immature and annoying, and he was the oldest so it was embarrassing.

He also had two of the best mentors, so ungrateful.

People need to remember that what we see on these shows are not the whole picture. They edit the shit out of them to make a good "story" that will grab them more viewers no matter if it's at the expense of a person. So he may be full of it or he may not who the fuck knows. But seeing how most shows like to portray beef that actually isn't there and hang a person up to be the show's scapegoat I'm giving this kid the benefit of the doubt.

If what Yonghyun is saying is true about how the staff mistreat him, why haven't the other boys left yet? I'm not saying he's lying because it is likely the boys are only seen as tools, but why aren't we seeing the other boys getting up and leaving as well? I'm hoping the situation can be made more clear because obviously there are people who are glad to see the "immature whiny little bitchy" Yonghyun go and that's unfair for him to be judged that way.

probably because he is the one who is portrayed as the worst and has worst medical condition (because of smoking and drinking).
I do think it must be hard for them who smoke and drink a lot to dance and it is wrong to treat all of them the same.

I think that a lot of question will be answer later after the end of the show. We don't know what is happening behind the scene, I am sure that for the moment the production team are making sure that the other boys will not leave the show.

i feel the worst towards hyo. she genuinely wanted to help the kid, even calling his parents and telling them 'i'll take responsibility for yonghyun'. although the girls' goal was to help the boys, the fact that it IS a tv show means that there were underlying goals - aka ratings. SMH towards the staff. they shouldve treated the kids fairly.

I wish people wouldn't automatically assume the staff are bad people.
In the episode when the boys were talking Yonghyun said that he felt like the show was making him out to be a bad person. But what was interesting was that Huihoon admittedly said that it wasn't true and people were sincerely trying to help them.
I hope he continues trying to change though.

I had a feeling he either left or was booted when he wasn't there for the guerilla concert.

Yonghyun frustrated me a lot with his behavior, he was immature and whiny, but he was faced with a lot of problems that needed a lot of work; he behaved how he had always behaved to survive. I hope that kid finds his way.

I agree. I think Yonghyun needs real attention from real therapists. The tv show might be working for the others but not for him.
Sad he's leaving, but it was probably a good step for him to take considering his needs to change.
