Popular U.S. television audition show, "American Idol," aired the premiere of its 11th season on January 18th. Season 10's judges Randy Jackson, Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez have returned as this season's judges.
One participant has already caught the eyes of viewers, causing "This Korean" and his name, "Heejun Han," to trend on Twitter for a short amount of time shortly after his audition was aired on FOX.
Originally hailing from Korea and now residing at Flushing, New York, Han Heejun (22) sang a remarkable rendition of "How Am I Supposed To Live Without You" by Michael Bolton.
Jennifer Lopez praised Han Heejun and said, "You have a beautiful voice," with Randy Jackson adding, "Yeah, surprisingly. I was shocked." Steven Tyler said, "Heejun, man, you sing great."
Not anticipating the positive feedback, Han Heejun was shocked and thanked them.
Randy Jackson continues, "On a serious note. I'm really impressed and shocked. You have a really good voice. You have a really, really good voice. I'm impressed."
Jennifer Lopez added, "You have a beautiful tone to your voice. And you have, like, great control in your rifts and everything."
"Yeah, good understanding in where notes should go," continued Steven Tyler.
Han Heejun replied with surprise on his face, "No one told me that those kind of stuff. But you guys are telling me so..."
In the end, all three judges gave Han Heejun a "yes" and officially moved on to the Hollywood rounds of "American Idol."
He is not the first Korean to receive attention on "American Idol" for his singing skills. John Park, Superstar K2 runner-up, took part of the same audition program at its 9th season and became a semi-finalist before being eliminated. Currently, he is preparing to make his official debut in Korea in February.
