Well, now I certainly prefer Junsu to Song Changui. Junsu's voice is much more dynamic. Can't wait to hear his version of Die Schatten Werden Langer. It's a pity they kind of toned down the touching in that performance, though, the erotic undertones (which are not so much under as in the foreground in the German version, if you ask me) are as good as gone :|
They most certainly toned things down because it was an open rehearsal intended to be shared publicly. I've found that theater in Korea is pretty much Anything Goes. What is taboo in other media, society, etc is for some reason or another totally okay for stage performances.
I am so pleasantly surprised with how Junsu is doing. When they first had him as der Todd for the preview at his musical concert, I had strong feelings and opinions against him in the role ;;
Oh, I've never thought about it like that. But then again, my only encounter with risky Korean theatre plays/musicals was Hedwig.
I was a bit concerned because I thought it was a very low register for Junsu. And, well, his voice didn't really fit the role for me either. But I had faith in him because, in my eyes, the guy can do just about anything if he puts his mind to it, especially if it concerns music. And I love it, as expected. It's a different Todd from the German one, definitely, but as I said, I love how dynamic his voice is (there's just something about the way he emotes) and he's dealing with the low notes very, very well.
I love Song Changui and he's amazing in the rehearsal vide but I feel that he needs something more to his voice to push it from great to exceptionally brilliant. Nothing wrong with his voice but I keep feeling that there should be more...umph?
I really can't wait to see shots from the real performances with full costume etc!! If these are THIS GOOD then how awesome are the photos then gonna be!!!
There is so much I have to say about Junsu after watching this. First and most appropriately would be hubba hubba ♥♥♥
Also there's something about the main girl that I just can't seem to like. The 2nd girl I like a lot better but this one in these photos, I just ..... don't like her lol. I think this might be a first :(
junsu is freaking amazing, but i'm more captivated by ock ju-hyun's voice in these perfs, and she sounds SO good together with junsu. i've looped Wenn ich tanzen will about a thousand times now.
also, i'm really confused about something and hope someone can answer me -- i looked on youtube for more of junsu's musical stage performances and i found dvd release cuts of elizabeth from like last year, earlier in the year. is this a reprisal or something then??
Those cuts are from the Kim Junsoo Musical Concert. It was filmed during the two concert days in late 2010. The cast of Mozart performed highlights from Mozart (which ran early in the year), a little tribute to Levay, and a 'preview' of Elizabeth... Junsu starring in everything, of course. He learned/memorized the Elizabeth songs only a week or two before the concert. So, that was just a 'teaser' and now we'll get the full production. I hope that explains it for ya!
*sigh* I'd take a trip to Korea JUST to see Junsu's performance.
junsu, you sexy devil :Q____ the black nail polish is such a guilty pleasure haha his voice goes fantastic with ok juhyun's, they are both so amazing <3 i'm glad junsu keeps being paired with these great female leads, makes the performances even more fantastic to watch!
