Sunny Hill, New single ‘The Grasshoppers’

The mixed group Sunny Hill released their new single ‘The Grasshoppers’ on the 13th.
Jo Youngcheol who produced IU and Brown Eyed Girls’s album participated in this single, it has songs that emphasize on Sunny Hill’s music color.

The title song ‘The Grasshopper Song’ is the joint work of the lyricist Kim Ina and the compositor Lee Minsoo who made songs like IU’s ‘Good Day’ and ‘You and I’, Brown Eyed Girls’ ‘Abracadabra’, ‘Sixth Sense’.

The song was made with Aesop’s fable ‘The Ant and the Grasshopper’ and the children song ‘In round, in round’ as motif, the song is about a modern man who wants to leave the competitive society where you live in a circle.

Moreover Misung and Kota, the members of Sunny Hill, participated in the composition and the lyrics writing of the song ‘Bad Guy’, the lyrics accompanied by a brilliant sound are the words they want to say truthfully to a bad guy.

Aside from this , ‘Hide-and-Seek’ that has an acid punk style, is a strong rap with a bass sound flowing in the first half, the chorus has a lyrical melody that makes its peculiarity.
Sunny Hill’s company Loen Entertainement stated on the 13th “You’ll be able to see Sunny Hill on an original stage with an unique music”.



Sunny Hill “First music performance with 5 members…It’s a new feeling” Impressions on their comeback

The mixed group Sunny Hill is coming back with the song ‘The Grasshopper Song’, they stated their impressions about their comeback “It’s our first performance as 5, it gives off a different feeling we like it”.

Sunny Hill met the reporters on the 13th in the afternoon at KBS 2TV ‘Music Bank’, they said “It’s the first time we’re standing on stage as 5 after adding 2 new members. Thanks to that we could give a different feeling. It feels like we’ve upgraded”.

They added “We hear often that Sunny Hill’s performances are particular. We’re not making it different on purpose but our members thoughts are usually special so we naturally search things like these and it eventually rubs off on our music too”.

They also explained “Because each member has his music style, we all interpret differentely the song. So we think that’s how it becomes unique. We think the fact that the performances are performances that only Sunny Hill can show is coming from each member’s personnality”.

“The outfits we use on stage for ‘The Grasshopper Song’ are a bit more sophisticated that during ‘Midnight Circus’. We’re really satisfied because as women, they were outfits we wanted to wear at least once” and with determination “As Sunny Hill who doesn’t fear the changes and will give transformation to you, we will keep showing to the fans even more various charms”.

On the other hand, they’ll have busy promotions with the song ‘The Grasshopper Song’ that became a hot topic because Narsha appeared in the music video with Sunny Hill.




A political satire in a song too? ‘With me stew and rice, Hanwoo with another girl’

n the new album Sunny Hill released on the 13th ‘The Grasshoppers’, the deep meaning of ‘Bad Guy”s lyrics attracted the attention.

At first, it could look like a love song, but the lyrics of the song can also be interpreted as an indirect description of the sickness and tiredness felt toward politics and politicians. In the meantime the podcasts ‘I’m a liar’ (T/N: A parody of I’m a Singer), KBS ‘Gag Concert’, etc are spreading political satires through popular songs.

The title of the song ‘Bad Guy’ is showing the negative content of it. The song is starting with ‘Oppa talks a lot, oppa talks a lot, I got to know since I tried everything but, Oppa talks a lot, oppa talks too much’ and continues with lines such as ‘Even though you kept changing your words, I still trusted you, In the end I got stabbed by an axe, I misunderstood your intentions Oh Yeah, I was too blind to see other points of view (My oppa), I was too deaf to listen other opinions (My oppa)’

They’re also singing ‘Saying you like eating stew and rice with me and eating expensive Hanwoo with some other girl? Taking care of others and leaving me being? Was it good to trick me? How was it? Did you get bored? I’m done dating you’

The members Misung and Kota participated in the composition and the lyrics writing of this song and explained ‘It’s the words we want to say to a bad guy, frankly and wittily’.
When asked if the song is a political satire the company Loen Entertainement replied “It’s not”. A representative called OSEN on the 13th and explained “As written in the lyrics it’s a love song”.

On the other hand, in Sunny Hill’s title song ‘The Grasshopper Song’ too has an interesting text that is a satire of modern men. ‘The Grasshopper Song’ is telling us to enjoy the present with this story: the ants who lives in circle will inevitably fall behind the competitive system, they want to get rid of it, the ants (modern men) wants to become grasshoppers.

For this album, Jo Youngcheol who produced IU and Brown Eyed Girls, took care of the whole production so the music fans are looking forward to it, the compositor Lee Minsoo who created hit songs such as ‘Good Day’, ‘You and I’, ‘Abracadabra’, ‘Irreversible’, ‘Sixth Sense’, etc and the lyricist Kim Ina worked in collaboration for ‘The Grasshopper Song’ so it announces a big sensation.

Sunny Hill will come back on the 13th on KBS ‘Music Bank’.

the grasshoppers has been on repeat since it's release date. definitely the best thing to come out this month so far.
