It has recently been revealed that former Wonder Girls member Sunmi is still currently a JYP Entertainment trainee.

A representative from JYPE informed OSEN on the 13th, “Sunmi has remained within the company and continues to sharpen her musical talents.”

According to the representative, Sunmi who left the Wonder Girls in 2009 is still with JYPE and continues to receive vocal coaching and dance training. However, there are no plans for her to return as a member of Wonder Girls.

Ahead of JYPE’s official statement, a netizen had photoshopped Sunmi into a photo of the Wonder Girls’ second full-length album jacket cover and the photo surfaced on numerous community boards online.

Sunmi is dressed in black to fit their concept and blends perfectly with the other members, leaving netizens curious and confused.

But JYP Entertainment also commented on the photos saying, “The photos are compilations, and there are no plans for Sunmi to make a comeback with Wonder Girls.”

Yeah it's odd. Though I get the reason for this article--wonderworldvirus @ YT makes some pretty awesome lyric videos/manips and the Sunmi-as-part-of-BMB one up there is a great one, hence netizen attention.

But yeah, all the WG have 7-year-contracts with JYPE so it's safe to say she's gonna continue being there until at least 2014.

To me, Sunmi will ALWAYS be a Wonder Girl. Always. She can pop back into WG any day now and it'll be like she never left, because honestly, if you've been a WG fan for long enough a time you'll always notice her absence these days.

That being said, I understand her decision and I hope she is happy with whatever she decides to do now and in the future. It's like Sunye said..."Though Sunmi-as-a-Wonder-Girl is important, Sunmi-as-an-individual is more important".

ive wanted to reply to comments in this post a few times but every comment was yours and so ive finally succumbed lol (im not stalking u in wonder girls posts i swear)

i would love sunmi to be in wonder girls again but i dont like the idea of a 6 person wonder girls - for some reason it feels like a step back into the kpop world which they are trying to expand out of (i dont know how else to explain it)

i agree wholeheartedly that lim doesnt have a flame to sunmis raging bushfire lol
i think i might accept lim more if sohee was a better performer akin to sunmi but both lim and sohee are equally as weak as each other live and it annoys me. that said though, i do think sohee has gotten better but in the face of kpop in general her voice is still among the bottom half rather than the top half.
on the flipside, i would like lim more if she was a better singer and didnt need a backing track to reinforce her own voice (it comes off as a double echo voice and it shits me). lineup changes in general dont bother me as i love the sugababes and they have changed their lineup so many times now and sugababes 2.0 was better than 1.0 imo...3.0 and 4.0 dont have the same soul (or any original members now so whatever)

the wonder girls 1.0 were a unique set and i think jyp struck gold with that lineup. i think lim is slowly getting there but she doesnt add anything to the group besides language abilities and that isnt something that is a real selling point. lets say we compare to snsd who to me are a top girl group but imo arent unique/have no soul. sometimes i think of them as an army of hot girly girls lol.

i dont know where i was going with my reply but i would like a return of sunmi but i feel that the wonder girls ship has sailed without her and the best we can hope for is a new girl group (i dont think she can make it solo as she doesnt have that xfactor - one good example would be hyunah who has the x factor, in sistar i think hyorin is like nicole scherzinger - in sistar she outshines but i think she would probably fail as a solo, as a duo with the other girl would work though).
the problem with bringing out a new girl group with sunmi is that they would have to be careful not to overlap with either miss a or wonder girls in terms of style etc and anything generic would be a disservice to sunmis experience.
