GD&TOP’s Japanese single “Oh Yeah” to be sold in ‘limited edition’ only

GD&TOP have announced that their first Japanese single album will only be sold as a limited edition.

On January 11th, YG Entertainment revealed that “Oh Yeah Feat. Bom“, which was originally meant to be released in November of 2011, will now be sold only as a limited edition at the ’15th anniversary YG Family‘ concert.

The first series of concert were held on the 7th and 8th at the Osaka Kyocera Dome, and will soon be making a stop at the Saitama Super Arena on the 21st and 22nd.

Representatives explained, “The album has been released, but GD&TOP has no plans of promoting in Japan this year. As it is our 15th anniversary concert, we decided to put out a limited release for the fans that have given us their love.”

I had that feeling too.
As much as I love GD&TOP I don't think they can be successful in the japanese market. There's too much of a western vibe to their music imo. I love it but I don't think it suits the japanese market.

A nice thing of YG to do, considering how painfully awkward actual promotions would have been for GD, TOP and the rest of the universe. Still curious about the Japanese High High (although it will be awkward as hell), hopefully someone will put some rips up...

I get that you can't really have the 2 members who are weakest in Japanese to promote by themselves.
What I don't get is why this is a limited release, surely even with a small fanbase and no promotions they could have half-decent sales.

Well even if its regular edition, you can't sell much if you're just going to dish out remakes.

C'mon BigBang/GDTOP, your activities in Japan were good (at least for me) until the remakes kicked in.

GD looks so fine in that photo.
But yeah, both of them suck at Japanese. And the Japanese in Oh Yeah is awkward as fuck. So imo it's a good thing they're not promoting, I'd be cringing all the way. And they really need to stop releasing remakes.

So basically, they'd already printed all the CDs for the November release, and they figured they might as well try and claw some of their money back on them.
