...But. I do think Mashable is being lazy and cheap about this. They shouldn't be relying on votes on categories like viral video of the year. They should do like Twitter with their trending topics and actually do the tracking and analyzing themselves. But that would require funds and man-hours.

At the same time, these are the rules of the game. ELF are not wrong to vote for their favorite.
