Singer and producer Park Jin Young reveals his true thoughts on his endeavors in the United States.

On January 1st, Park Jin Young wrote on his Twitter, “If the Wonder Girls and I didn’t try to venture into the American market, JYP would have probably been much more profitable. I would probably be a super rich multi-millionaire and the Wonder Girls would probably be even more popular in Korea. Despite all of that, we went off to try such an impossible and ridiculous challenge.”

He continued, “This year, the results of that long challenge will finally be unveiled. If it goes well, we will have succeeded what no other Asian celebrity has done before. If it doesn’t, I guess we will just have to suffer the loss of money and popularity.”

If it doesn’t go well, will I regret it? Though I didn’t know it would cost us multi-billion won or our popularity, I think during the several years we spent in the world’s best music market, we were able to gain experience and wisdom worth multi-trillion won. True wisdom can only be earned by learning from attempting an impossible challenge and failing.”

“I’ve always known the best ways to safely invest and earn money and fame, but I’ve always acted in the opposite way from that. Money and fame is like the wind. It can appear and disappear quickly. On the other hand, wisdom is something that will always stay with me and the kids (the JYP artists). I hope that our JYP artists would grow up to be wise and experienced people rather than just being successful celebrities.

“I’m excited to see who the Wonder Girls become in 20 years. I don’t know whether or not they will still be active celebrities then, but I do know for sure that the experience they gained in the past couple years will help them become more impressive than any other celebrity out there.”

Park Jin Young concluded his message with, “In 2012, our goal is not money and not fame, but wisdom. But who knows? Perhaps money and fame will follow that wisdom. Please continue to support and encourage us.”

IMO JYPE seems to be one of the only companies that actually care about their artistes. Anyway.... JYP NATIONALIST ROLL CALL!!

I won't say so though, I mean Sunmi clearly isn't really fond of this adventure

she wasn't found of going to the US, but yet she still is under the company and is seen as a member of the group, but in hiatus, and pretty much goes there daily, so you can easily see that there was no hard feelings whatsoever.

i think the fact that he let her leave just like that shows that he did care tbh. he could have easily forced her to stay b/c of her contract and turned it into this miserable long dragged out situation!!! and she always said she wanted to try the US since before they even debuted. in one of the first episodes of MTV WG from back in like 2006 when she talked about it JYP told her if she wanted to change her mind at any time she'd be free to do so!!

idk how far "caring" goes, and i say this as a stan. i think it is a business like all the other companies are a business. plus they have been pretty shady in the past. i do like how personalities are encouraged (tho i do wish jyp chose his trainees on a more equal personality/talent basis lol), and definitely don't agree with the insinuation that all jyp artists are bullies lol irl.

i like his thinking and i also admire the wg toughing it out. imo the only way to really make it big in an industry like america's (other than becoming a youtube success story or joining the reality talent shows) is to start from the bottom and learn and work your way up. idk if the wg will ever manage to make their way up there but i think their experiences have made them better entertainers and helped enrich their personal lives. it shows in how flawless their second album is.

as for jyp as a whole, this year was pretty good, dream high was a success, 2pm did better than the annus horribilis that was 2010 and the wg had a great comeback, miss a too (tho i think 2010 was even better for them especially because they were all nugus). looking forward to a jyp with a successful wg/am/pm/miss a. \o/

Im finally getting so used to Lim and starting to love her that I forgot how much I loved Sunmi. She really made the atmosphere so much more random. Her and Yenny were the only WG members who werent seriously shy all the time

Well, I agree with you. When she left, I was sad, but I believed then and I believe now she was doing what was best for her.

Sohee was even more upbeat before Tell Me, when Hyunah was in the group. I think the cutesy change kinda killed her inside.

His words are wise, only truely fails if they learn NOTHING from the experiences. And experience can be worth more than money earned in a moment. JYP is an interesting business man, and I'm guessing because he has been there as an artist, rolls over into him being in a better position as management - and risk taker. I wish CEO Kim from SM would take notes.

Ugh everything he wrote is exactly why I love JYP nation more than any other company.
Everyone should watch JYP on Win Win, imo. He's so crazy about his work and music and his artists, it's amazing.

all I know about JYP is what Rain says about him and Rains seems to be crazy about him. Plus Rain has a very good reputation himself for being hard working and kind.

"Money and fame is like the wind. It can appear and disappear quickly."

So true! I'm glad to see JYP has learned this lesson and that he's willing to take some risks to gain more than money and fame.

WG are soooo much better now after going to the US so I'm really happy they did it. JYP was right in sending them there. The way he promoted might be a different story

+1

JYP is obsessed with making it in the US. He always has been. Now that the WG are about to debut in earnest, he's protecting his pride in case this all falls flat.

i'm pretty damn sure he has regrets (and quite a lot), but then again, it's not like he has the option to just pack up their bags and quit if this one fails.
