Album Review For Shin Hyesung's "Embrace"

1. Fall (intro)

The intro of the album,
The song starts with ambient sounds and strings, soon joined by fresh guitar strokes and the melody.
The drum beat announces the start of the album, and the expansion of the strings add to the tension.


2. Come Back

A song with modern guitar sounds and a rhythmical piano melody on a simple and bright 8~90s type beat.
Contrary to the brightness of the melody, the singer sings of the sadness of one left behind.

고마워 지울 수 없는 그 기억 속에서
Thank you, because in the memories I can't forget
항상 변함없는 자리를 지켜줘서
You're still there, unchanged
오늘도 널 잊을 수 없어
I can't bring myself to forget you again today
함께 부르던 이 노랠 부르면
When I sing this song we used to sing together

3. Stay

A dramatic form expresses the determination of the singer to support one who has lost everything.
A song that contains a comforting message that has no promise, no reason; perhaps possible because it is song.

4. I Love You

A 3/4 beat ballad number.
It sings of a careful and slow reveal of the heart and a heightening of emotions, something different from other modern songs.
It starts with minimal sounds centered on a piano melody, and the dynamic sounds near the end color the simple frame of the song.

5. A Dream Like Day to Me (feat. Park Ji Yoon)

A lovely duet song with acoustic sounds.
The man and woman sing of their secret and yet honest feelings.
Each of their stories come together in a harmony and in the end form a song.
The song's emotions deepen with the voice featuring of singer/songwriter Park Ji Yoon.

6. Goodbye

A song that decorates the last of the album just like the title.
It sings of saying goodbye forever to memories one can't escape. The song's form and sounds become more dynamic along with the emotions of the singer.
The singer, who in the beginning sings calmly, leaves a trace that lingers by singing his honest emotions in the last chorus.
It layers strong modern sounds on a standard 90s ballad form.

7. Goodnight (outro)

It leaves behind the gentle traces and emotions which couldn't be expressed through song and sets them alight.
The outro, which is an extension of the intro, contains the processes of love which start with attraction and end with separation.
The explosive, cold, mechanic sounds and the unending guitar noises decorate the finale of the album.
