C-Real wants Japan to bid on them.
2011-12-20 10:56 pmRookie girl group C-Real will be starting their Japanese career through a route different from their peers. Following their debut showcase, the girls will be putting their future contract up for auction, signing with the label that provides the best conditions.
Unlike other groups who sign with an agency before heading over, the girls will be using the ‘posting system’, a method favored by professional baseball players.
Their showcase will be an opportunity to meet with the Japanese labels, press, and fans, as well as experiment with whether they’re suitable for the market or not. The showcase will be held in Tokyo at the end of January, and internal details are currently being hashed out. Fans will not be allowed to attend – only record label officials.
Since their debut in October, the girls have been nicknamed as the ‘five member IU‘ group, which has generated enough interest notin only Korea, but overseas as well. They have been receiving love calls from Japan, which is how they came up with their idea for debut.
NAP Entertainment stated, “This method is not to raise the amount of they’re worth, but to really receive an honest evaluation of their skills at their showcase. We consider it as a way to have their talents and potential recognized by their future label.”

Date: 2011-12-21 06:02 am (UTC)Then I was like "nugu? have they even debuted in Korea? /rereads article"
Then I was all "are you gonna get high bidders if no one knows you?"
I mean seriously. Nothing against these girls, but unless they're already really fluent in Japanese I can't see this happening. If they want to be working outside the kpop craze, they'll be up against Japanese groups (successful and nugus) who at least know culture/language, and they'll have to basically abandon the thought of Korean promotions in order to gain any relevancy. And they can't ride the 'hallyu wave' very well if they've only been promoting in their own freaking country for 2 months and have like no fanbase.

Date: 2011-12-21 06:45 am (UTC)Well I guess that's not a given, but IMO their vocal performances thus far have not been impressive enough to start a bidding war for their Japanese contract. :\

Date: 2011-12-21 07:28 am (UTC)that said, i really like them and their debut song. i don't understand why they are called "the 5 IUs" instead of having their own identities. they're one of my fav rookie girl groups this year.

Date: 2011-12-21 09:40 am (UTC)second, i like c-real, i think they (especially chemi and redee) are quite talented given their age. but girls, please stay in korea! build up your fanbase, release another flawless mini (or two) and then think about oversea promotions.

Date: 2011-12-21 12:38 pm (UTC)they're not just jumping into Japan. they're just feeling out their options and actually trying to assess if they'd even have a shot there in the first place should the opportunity arise. and honestly if I were trying to make a quick buck I'd do the same thing. the market in korea is inundated too.
