They try to promote Donghae as actor these days, I get it. But he's got basically the same level of overacting that all SM Idol actors and actresses, partly even the non-idol ones, have.
I still think Ryeowook has got the most potential to be a good actor and Sungmin has his light moments, Kangin is in the army, so yeah...
Wook is awesome as an actor, i really wonder why he hasn't done more outside of musicals.
Donghae, pardon my biasness, but he is still young in acting...and unfortunately the boy is shyer than a virgin in hen house. i think he's still growing his acting skills.
Well, Donghae is clearly the current acting baby of SJ, but I'm not sure whether it speaks for or against him that his level is quite up to par with Siwon. And Siwon, though widely enjoyed by public, has a tendency to overacting and I keep seeing it with Donghae as well. I think he's got potential though, he just needs to dig deeper into acting, into how slight nuances are speaking more words than a huge reaction.
Then again I think SM doesn't exactly choose projects for their Idol actors that require extremely deep thinking into a role. Yoochun has gotten a lot better if you compare SKKS and Mrs. Ripley with stuff he did under SM like Masked Fencer or Dating On Earth. It gives me hope that Donghae can develop like that too.
Ryeowook has a very natural feeling to what he's doing, but I guess he enjoys acting occasionally and prefers sticking to music. A pity, I must say.
i wish SM would bring in new blood when it comes to those who train them. (i'm talking about vocals and in acting). it sometimes feels like SMe likes to keep it within the family, which sometimes isn't bad...but then they end up lacking something or not growing - like the overacting.
i can only hope Donghae seeks out his own (like he did with OneWay boys in producing/composing music) acting teachers/trainers, he has potential. although i don't ever see him as a main lead for most projects, that's okay. many amazing actors have been the second string, and outshined the main....one can dream...that is if he puts in more time studying acting.
Skip Beat is a good avenue for their overacting since the show seems very cracky and slightly like an anime brought to life.
Wook is really a natural. sadly i think his height will work against him, but i do hope he does more acting after the army especially as the character actor.
