Back at the end of October, Girls’ Generation came to New York City for SM TOWN Live in New York. While they were in town they stopped by the studio of Elvis Duran and the Morning Show, a syndicated radio program, to sit down for an interview.

TJ, the host for the interview, welcomed the girls warmly and provided a fun atmosphere. Unsurprisingly, Jessica and Tiffany answered the majority of questions due to their being fluent in English, but Sooyoung got to chime in with her fluent Japanese as she said hi to one of TJ’s friends.

Jessica and Tiffany talked a lot about their pre-debut days and how they came to be in Korea and part of Girls’ Generation. The girls also showed their thanks to TJ by giving him a copy of their album and a photobook.

The interview was very entertaining and got to show off some back story to Girls’ Generation, as well as some of the charms that makes them loved by so many. Check out the full interview below, or head over to the Elvis Duran and the Morning Show website to download the interview.

This is so qt! I hope the others are actually learning English too, and not just relying on Jessica and Tiffany.

why do people throw whatever random asian words they know at any random asian person or speak slowly to them

Date: 2011-12-06 02:02 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] obeytheempress.livejournal.com
Because unfortunately a lot of Americans think all Asians are the same, or that they are not really "American"

i didn't know TJ had a podcast. but no TJ they didn't headline even if SMe would want you to think that, it was a show that was more than just about Soshi. i'm shocked that TJ wasn't a jerk like he could be. lol TJ didn't do his research in how Korean groups work.

lol "is this a cult." lol surprised the managers weren't freaking out.
TJ saying the Gee lyrics...reminds me of a Sims! speaking.

Sunny was born in the states?

They need to work a little bit on how they explain how they got started in the industry because simply telling someone that you were 10-11 years old and approached by a stranger who filmed you while you cried and then offered to make you a star sounds absolutely insane to the average American.

It really does tbh. Most kpop fans wouldn't think of it as strange because we're used to hearing things like this, but to someone that knows almost nothing about the Korean music industry the story sounds really confusing.

More like Tiffany and Jessica interviewed on American Radio.. not that I mind! ;p TJ was genuinely amazed at all of their stories though, which is pretty weird considering he breathes and lives music business. But then again the culture divide is just too large. I wish they got to tell him things between those lines.. some of the answers were just too vague because of time constraint. Like as fans I bet we were dying to just explain to TJ EVERYTHING about how K-pop works. I was itching! lmao

TJ should have done his homework a bit more about the kpop industry, cause it is different. but i'm guessing it was kinda last minute, and not priority since it was on his podcast
