45,000 audience members gathered at Jang Geun Seok's solo concert at the Tokyo Dome.

The first solo concert of the Hallyu star Jang Geun Seok (24) was not labeled a "fan meeting," but it was entitled as a "critical show" instead, and his concert was important enough to call it “critical.”

The concert was held with the concept of "Prince World" that was personally made by Jang Geun Seok, and it was like a perfect music drama containing various spectacular things to watch such as performances using a crane, bicycle, hot-air balloon, fireworks, and razor. The concert began with a video image in which the “prince,” Jang Geun Seok, who was tired from his harsh life, began to draw a sketch of the "Prince World" that he had been dreaming of, and he appeared on the stage in the middle of loud cheering by the 45,000 audience members. He heated up the atmosphere by singing songs such as "Hello Hello" which was included in the original soundtrack of the drama "Mary Stayed Out All Night," and the song "Oh My Darling" which was included in his Japanese debut album. After he finished his first performance, he delivered his thrilling emotions about holding concert in the Tokyo Dome because his first fan meeting in Japan in 2008 could not fill even the half of the venue with 2,000 seats. He said, "I had wondered when I could have a chance, and I had thought that I wanted to hold concert in the Tokyo Dome before I died, but I finally made my dream come true today." His fans gave a rapturous ovation for his comment.

Then the pre-made video images were screened on the stage. Jang Geun Seok unveiled his thoughts on the world that he has been dreaming of, which is the “Prince World,” and his plain appearances of cleansing his makeup, lying down on the bed while enjoying the Internet, and his appearance in the waiting room behind the stage commanded the audience’s full attention. His performance on the stage was even much greater. When he sang the song entitled "Shake It" which was included in his Chinese album "BP," he and his friend named DJ Kurt appeared on the stage by riding separate cranes, and they began to present singing and dancing while standing on the crane that rotated a full 360 degrees, and his performance heated up the venue again. He also went around the hallways of the audience to say hello to his fans at a closer distance. The hot-air balloon performance was the greatest among his other splendid performances. At the end of the concert, he appeared while riding a hot-air balloon and sang songs such as "Promise," which was included in the original sound track of the drama "You're Beautiful," and the song "Bye Bye Bye," which was included in his Japanese debut album, and when he threw the balls on which his own autograph is written, the atmosphere of the concert hall reached the peak. His fans on the third floor became very excited when their star suddenly appeared right before them by riding the hot-air balloon.

Jang Geun Seok kept his promise of presenting a "critical show" by showing unexpected performances such as taking pictures of his fans who were cheering for him and lying down on the floor of the stage. His best friends and musicians, Joo Seok and Verbal Jint, and the actress Park Shin Hye, who had appeared in "You're Beautiful" together with Jang Geun Seok, appeared in his concert as guest members and presented a joint performance. But as he only focused on the performance itself, he sometimes sang out of tune and off beat, and it was the only inadequate aspect of his concert.

The “Jang Geun SeoK Show” that was held for three and a half hours from 4pm to 7:30pm came to an end with a shuffle dance time, which is the typical performance of Jang Geun Seok’s concert. The 45,000 audience members were standing during his concert for several hours even from long before the concert began while shaking luminous cheering tools, and they kept calling Jang Geun Seok's name, "Prince Jang Geun Seok." Some fans even called his names in fluent Korean such as "I love Jang Geun Seok" and "Jang Geun Seok is the best.” A female fan from Nagoya named Yaki Jumiko (40) expressed her satisfaction by saying, "It was a very pleasant time. His performance always presents something new, and I love it."

I laughed.

Your look is tragic JGS. Really. So much that it hurts.

Can I ask, how come he's popular in Japan?

Date: 2011-11-30 02:13 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] asnindie.livejournal.com
No but filling up Tokyo Dome is no joke. He's had no serious Japanese releases yet he's this popular? It's really weird to me.

Date: 2011-11-30 03:55 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] evivante.livejournal.com
I ask the same thing. He didn't even have any legit Japanese releases. But I heard You're Beautiful was crazy popular in Japan, and the rest of his other Korean materials followed.

Date: 2011-11-30 06:10 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] stormsandsins.livejournal.com
You're Beautiful. It was a mega-hit there, perhaps even more so than in Korea. At least, I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere.

From: [identity profile] asnindie.livejournal.com
Shouldn't Yonghwa, Hongki and shin Hye be popular aswell?

Date: 2011-11-30 06:52 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] stormsandsins.livejournal.com
I think Hongki was (and still is? idk) popular before the show aired, due to FT Island's Japanese activities. The others... idk. I think JGS has just focused his own activities in Japan a hell of a lot more than the others. Plus he speaks Japanese, whereas PSH... I don't think so. CN Blue are kinda popular in Japan I think.

But yeah, I think it's just because JGS still promotes YB over there, either with fanmeets or whatnot. I think he had one this year if I'm not mistaken.

That's a hell of a lot of "I think"s in one reply! I don't really follow him but YB was my first kdrama last year and I know there was a bunch of "activities" re: YB last year

I was just surprised because I'd never seen anything like all the risers and wires and stuff :) I'm not into JE so most of the concerts I've been to in Japan have been in smaller live houses and stuff haha.
