Since G-Dragon was under the suspension of indictment for the suspicion of smoking marijuana, a lot of focus and attention is being placed on his future activities. Today, the Japanese side released a statement that “there won’t be any big problems for album sales”, which also became the center of attention.

G-Dragon was planned to promote the single album 'Oh Yeah' in Japan on November 9th under the duo GD&TOP with exceptional activities. This album was highly anticipated by fans since it was the first project under the collaboration of YG Entertainment and Japan Avex.

However, the announcement of the charge made on October 5th will impact GD&TOP’s and BIGBANG’s activities. YG Entertainment has been busy coming up with a strategy to handle this. A high executive from YG expresses that they will be changing a lot of the plans for BIGBANG, GD&TOP, etc, and that G-Dragon is undergoing deep self-reflection.

Yang Hyun Suk says: “Since G-Dragon received a suspension of indictment, we received the response from Japan that there won’t be any major problems with album sales. Although it wasn’t intentional, G-Dragon and YGE still shoulder responsibility and guilt for the incident. There’s also an issue of moral responsibility, and we need to consider a lot of factors. We are still worried (about whether album sale should be postponed)”. Moreover, G-Dragon as a CF endorser has a lot of contracts in effect. Although the companies for the endorsements were shocked when they heard the results of the prosecutor’s investigation, they were able to quickly stabilize the situation.

G-Dragon is currently endorsing: CJ, G Market, LG Smart Phone Optimus BIG, Soul by Ludacris, The North Face, Nikon, and Beanpole, etc.

A YG representative says: “The companies so far have not reacted with violent dissatisfaction nor have they threatened to sue. We are very thankful to them for giving us their understanding”.

Suspension of indictment means: although the suspect is guilty of the crime, but taking into consideration factors such as the suspect’s age, environment, motives, methods, etc. Compared to when someone already with a previous record, the prosecutor will not officially indict the first time offender in order to give him a second chance to abide by the law.

Seems like this whole ordeal isn't going to be as bad as I thought it was (and I already didn't think it was going to be that bad at all). I was expecting some dropped endorsements and postponement of all activities for quite a while, but now I'm doubting much of anything will happen, really.

Boy is lucky he's G-Dragon and not any other person in the world.

his endorsement haven't pulled him out of his contracts... I was worried there for a sec.. he's still endorsing everything.. he also took part of the North Face CF as planned...

so I take it's just media that's making it seem worse than it is.. and some haters like they always are ... :P

I don't think Soul/Ludacris/whoever the parent company is will have any issue with GD smokin' a little weed.

Eh, I think it's the fact that wasn't in possession of it, got caught doing it, or went to jail, more than being afraid it was something else.
Plus there are actually tons of fans who actually believe that story.

no shit sales aren't going to damper. everyone loves a good scandal (even though this really isn't that big a scandal in retrospect).

Impressed by YG's efficiency in all of this. They don't play when it comes to G-dragon, apparently. Fast and reactive damage-control ftw. YG will probably still postpone the Japanese release though to show that GD's in serious reflection or smth. I'll have to wait to see the beautiful duo again ;~;

TBH I was wondering how YG was gonna manage all these things he promised, anyways:
~GD&TOP Japanese release
~2NE1 Japanese single
~Return of se7en in Japan
~Gummy debut in Japan
~Tablo solo album release
~Release of Big Bang "Best of" album
~plus alleged GD comeback
~Taeyang comeback (based on my own suspicion)
All before the end of this year. Let's be real, now. lol

I read some account that said that even if we don't think (Westerners) that YG's artists are considered hardcore etc etc in Korea. Someone mentioned in the other thread that because they were considered like THE hip-hop people of Korea that it wasn't going to be that big of a deal since it was expected to some extent. I mean, and it's fucking G-Dragon.

This whole weed scandal is only gonna last til' the next scandal so I'm not too worried.
And it would be stupid to stop listening to someone's music because he smoked some weed... if the music is good I'll enjoy it.

TBH I'm not very surprised that the endorsers haven't dropped him since he has been all his career quite a scandal maker, so when they signed him up they must have already expected some shit to go down (it's wouldn't be GD if it was just smooth sailing). I mean his image is basically based on controversies. However, if this had happened to someone with more squeaky clean image the endorsers would be probably dropping like flies.

And I hope YG doesn't push his activities too far as I think this commotion will die out fairly quickly as some other scandal will surface, and things like these are kinda expected from GD. (LOL Probably most people are in fact relieved it wasn't anything harder stuff)
