Due to Song Jihyo's frequent hospital admissions for an allergic reaction and fatigue, her manager expressed his sentiments for the production team behind "Gyebaek."
On the 21st of September, her manager made a post on his Twitter account, giving blow by blow information of what happens on the set. After which he revealed that, "I am angry again now that I'm at the site. They call out a sick person but no one is ready. PD's only tell us to go and get rest in the car. They call us at 8 when they could've called us at 10 and no one tells us about the changed schedule."
Song Jihyo was in and out of hospital since the 18th of September, but went against medical advise and continued filming for "Gyebaek." At some point, her health deteriorated so much that she had to rely on an oxygen mask.
An official from her management also confirmed her condition saying, "The hospital doesn't suggest respirators unless they are very necessary but the doctor said she was in danger when she first came in. He asked why we let her be like this." The official also said that she had to get back to the drama shoot, as she was on a tight schedule.
Would this spark another debate for harsh working conditions in drama productions?

Date: 2011-09-23 06:31 am (UTC)Also pretty sure she would be in some sort of bloody blacklist and it would be difficult after this to have other roles etc.
It's a lot. It takes really a lot of courage for a person to go up and sue. This is why I will never understand people saying negative things on any korean entertainers voicing their anger with their company. It's not like we don't know what's going on behind the veil now. Innocence is lost for this fandom.
Plus, look at the reactions when Han Ye Seul refused to come for the apparently same reasons and because she was having a breakdown because of it. No wonders actresses don't feel confident about voicing their problems. Even the public is not with them.

Date: 2011-09-23 07:31 am (UTC)I saw a program/scoop on Samsung or some Korean company, about their work ethic. It's kinda like a brainwash or something. The loyalty to company is rather scary for meBut for crying out loud, this is not a war where you taking a bullet for a friend or the whole company. It's just a drama shooting!!! Not state emergency or something. Where's the common sense? Where's the humanity? It doesn't really matter what country or culture, basic common sense of humanity should be the same. Couldn't they give her a proper rest or something?
I just don't get it...

Date: 2011-09-23 02:08 pm (UTC)it should. and this time, immediate action should be taken to improve the working conditions.
but to be honest, it's surprising that these actors/idols are taking a lot of work. even actors in my country who have shows that are shown daily don't have to work everyday. and if they need to take in another project, it's not that difficult to take a leave.

Date: 2011-09-23 05:20 pm (UTC)Knowing it's Korea, her company probably couldn't have fought for better contractual terms since the production team would just find the next person who would sign the contract without so much as a squeak.
smh.
