Youtube announced that they will be blocking access from Korea. Users with the country setting “Korea” will not be able to upload videos, their views numbers will be monitored which means that they won’t be able to affect the number of views.

What is the reason that forced them to take this step? The truth is, Korea in order to support it’s own Kpop, manipulate the number of views into becoming more than 100,000 views. Normally Youtube will count one view for each user, but in Korea they have tools and use multiple accounts that allow them to fake increase the number of views.

Because of that, Girls Generation has more views than world stars like Britney Spears and Avril Lavigne. The ban is the measures taken to prevent such attacks.

why is yahoo! japan reporting about this?

kinda weird, though, that youtube will ban a country and not the individual people cheating the system. :o\

No wonder YG artists increase their views counts so drastically every time.

...as if view counts are a super serious thing? idk, this seems stupid to me. And it's not like it's just Korean people doing it either. A lot of international fans do this sort of thing too.

I've heard that because SME are verified users of Youtube (because of their view count and bc they're a massive entertainment company), Youtube actually pays them for their vids (cause Youtube makes profit too)? But that's just hear say and I'm not entirely sure if that's vaild.

Interesting that Youtube isn't specifically going after like SME or whatever for their videos, instead of going towards the entire COUNTRY. Generalization much?

But I don't get it, so because Girls Generation has more views than Britney Spears and Avril Lavigne, it makes it suspicious? I'm pretty sure SNSD can actually rake up that many views for a video like Gee. It's not impossible.

Why can't youtube just improve its technology and detect Bot activity, or limit view counts to one per user account? This is such a ridiculous ban. Now koreans cant share personal videos with friends over youtube, freelance artists cant upload their works, etcetc?

Does this mean I cant hear uploads by korean freelance artistes such as Sungha anymore?

Ridiculous ban. I understand their rationale, but their response is abit of an overkill, an ill-conceived solution imo.

If this is even legit (I SERIOUSLY doubt it is), I wonder when it takes effect because Sungha just uploaded a video an hour ago.

I read a comment in one KPop video how views can be cheated and it's no rocket science. You can simply create a playlist that features a single KPop video 10 times over (or more), then simply play the list on loop.

This is so beyond false. Both sources you link to have been deleted. Youtube would not block a WHOLE COUNTRY from uploading videos, that's just beyond ridiculous. Also that's not how views work for a video. One user =/= one view. One view = one view, and one user can view a video many times and still increase the view count for the video.

This sounds like more anti-Hallyu bull made up by anti-Hallyu Japanese netizens. I honestly don't see how any of this is believable.

From 6theory:

This news is originally from Searchina, a ridiculous tabloid site in Japan. The rumor mill on the Japanese internet is on a rampage right now with all that anti Korean Wave movement. The amount of lies they produce is mind-boggling. The low standard media just picks them up.

Read the Official YouTube Korea Blog
http://youtubekrblog...og-post_08.html

YouTube did NOT block Korea. Some functions are disabled if you set your country to Korea. It's because of Korea's real name verification law. It's an old story.
