Two Chinese Falun Gong practitioners in South Korea are at risk of being deported to China, where adherents of the spiritual practice are persecuted by the Chinese Communist regime.

South Korean authorities took the couple away from their home late Tuesday night. We are keeping their identities private for their safety. The male Falun Gong practitioner is a volunteer for NTD’s branch in South Korea. Both have been trying to apply for refugee status in the country.

The couple’s friend, who asked to remain anonymous, was distraught after the incident.

[Friend of Detained Falun Gong Practitioner]:
“If they’re deported to China, they’re at risk of persecution, their organs may be harvested, and their lives will be at risk.”

Last month, the South Korean government was criticized for deporting three Falun Gong practitioners to China in July.

South Korean Falun Gong practitioners are calling for international assistance to prevent this latest deportation.

Since 1999, the Chinese Communist Party has been systematically persecuting Falun Gong. Adherents who escape the country often apply for refugee status, because they fear being persecuted if they return to their homeland.

since when is Korea and China friendly?
come on, let them stay, even if it out of spite or something...but then again Lee Myung Bak has never been friendly towards non-Christians...
Chinese govt is going to be soooo happy to have them back and not in a good way either.

That doesn't matter. They may not be friendly on personal terms, but diplomatically and financially, china and the us cater to each other's interest just like south Korea in this situation.

Every life is important...
And I think it's really wrong of the Korean government to send these people back to their deaths.
But at the same time I didn't see any Chinese make that big of a deal every time they deported north koreans back to north korea when they could have allowed them to enter the south korean embassy. x:
Because Koreans have experienced such a thing I would think they would have be the bigger person and not stopp down to that level...
But then again I rarely see Koreans being the bigger person.

As a refugee, if there's anyone who understands the importance of getting away from a Communist regime, it's me.

However.

Communist governments and especially PRC are known for manipulation and fabrication of political stories/details for their own gain. They've used memories of honest, hardworking dead people to further their agenda before ffs. I wouldn't be surprised if they went so far as to have people loyal to them pose as opponents to spark anti-Korean sentiments even amongst those who disapprove of the Chinese government ("if we can't get them to like us, get them to hate our enemy"). It's really unfortunate if these people truly were Falun Gong practitioners/anti-Communist believers and I would be smh at Korea too if this were true. But I would remain skeptical in the mean time until this comes from another source like AP or Reuters; this could likely be a ploy by PRC itself to evoke ill will towards Korea...even if it's done by reverse psychology of sorts. I'm gonna take this with a grain of salt.
