I swear, they're releasing a Japanese MV for this one, too! I have the list of Avex MVs we're acquiring next week, and Lonely JPN Ver is one of em. Have to check our servers first thing in the morning just to make sure, tho
of course, logistically that makes sense, but it still seems a little overdone when they're remaking every single most recent single they've had. i love the pants off 2NE1, but it would make a lot more sense to me if they remade their songs that are more popular/iconic to the group? (strictly speaking as if they had to/obviously are remaking songs in the first place.) like I Don't Care or Fire. those were the songs that launched them to mainstream popularity and kind of set the bar for what to expect when it came to 2NE1.
i do absolutely understand what you're saying, but, imho, think it's trite. especially when Papa YG goes out of his way to try to market the girls differently and just ends up doing the same thing every other company out there is doing. buuuut i don't know what i'm talking about as i'm neither a music producer, business person, korean or japanese. so oh well. it still seems silly.
I actually wanted them to debut with I don't care... I think it would make more impact...
probably the main reason for remaking their new korean songs would probably to lessen expenses since they've been filming both the japanese and korean versions at the same time...
I'm not an expert so I don'y know... still I'm hoping for a NEW Lonely MV...
It's pretty, but Korean version is better. Anyhow I think their mini will flop because I have a feeling their Japanese fans are different than fans of other Korean idol groups in Japan who are willing to buy worse product just for support. Like 2NE1 really needs to release a great original Japanese song to sell well instead of remake. Oh well, at least their Japanese concerts sold out already, so they'll be making money on that front at least.
to everyone that keeps complaining about 2NE1's remakes, all of this was already told to us back when ygex was formed:
10ASIA: Does that mean they’ll pursue they activities mainly with music they’ve released in Korea? Yang: The first condition I talked about with Avex in establishing YGEX was that YG wouldn’t have to adjust its style of music too much to that of Japan’s. Avex too is up for this because they like YG’s style of music — I don’t see them as wanting to make us adjust our music. Starting with 2NE1’s “I am the Best,” YG’s artists plan to promote themselves in Japan with music they’ve released in Korea.
10ASIA: Why did you think of such a strategy? Yang: We had been one of the most passive agencies when it comes to activities overseas. Korea had always been our priority. And this is because if we focused our artists’ activities in Japan, their popularity in Korea could shake. That’s why they’ll pursue their activities in Korea and Japan simultaneously. When they release a song in Korea, the song will be released in Japan as well a week later. And we established YGEX in order to try this properly. Touring Asia is something we’re thinking of adding to all of this.
I mean even if we were informed about it earlier, I don't agree with it. I understand their business model but I'd prefer something new and, imo, the Japanese market would also.
oh, I understand why people would complain and dislike it, but I'm mostly addressing those who are constantly like 'when are they going to come out with something original!?' or 'ANOTHER remake!?' since it's pretty much expected

if ever the 1st single which is a remake seriously flops, they won't lose much money...
