How Much Does A Girl Group Cost?

Cable channel, Y-STAR, surveyed 1000 Seoul residences in order to come up with the top 7 female idols and estimated the cost to maintain them as a group.

*Out of all the operating costs the largest portion went into a renting a house which was estimated to cost approximately 24 million Won (~$22,400) per month.

Next was hair and make up in order to keep up their appearances. The monthly costs estimated to be around 20 million Won ($18,600). An associated business explained that this fee was after the typical celebrity discount of 50%.

An expert  in this area believes that for a girl group skin care, which is extremely important, would probably be about 10 million Won ($9,300) per month.

Aside from these costs are travel expenses and meals which comes to about 11 million Wo ($10,300). For a 7 member girl group it would total to an approximate 65 million Won ($60,700) per month. 

Y-STAR will be revealing who the top female idol members are on September 8th.

*Rent in Korea is different from other areas. Since the Jeonse price reflects the actual demand of people who reside in the area, the gap between rental deposits for Jeonse and the apartment sales price means there might be abubble in the apartment price. Depending on the area Jeonse prices can range as much as 25~80% of the home's sale price. The expensive Gangnam area's Jeonse is about 25~35% of the sales price because the properties are so expensive.

those numbers sounds kinda wrong to me. i mean most idols live in a dorm, not a house, and i dont think that renting a dorm in seoul cost $22,400 (even for a house this just sounds wrong. maybe if the house is a 3-storey with 34493248 bathrooms and 343409 bedrooms).
then, almost $19,000 just for hair and make up? in a month? no way.

yeah i'm reminded of secret's ghetto-ass basement dorm (literally, they lived in a shithole) and how many idols seem to just bunk up and live in some cramped 1/2-bedroom jaunt and i'm struggling to guess why it would cost so much $$$

Korean rent system is MUCH different from anywhere I know.
You pay a security deposit that's ridiculous and then you pay a lower monthly rent. x:
So if you average it all out then $22,000 is not far from it.
Even for just a 3 bedroom you need at least a $100,000 down payment.
It's pretty ridiculous.
I paid a $5,000 down payment for a TINY room.

the 'dorms' idols live in tend to be high end apartments with very high security, for obvious reasons. most of them probably have 4-5 rooms, more than one bathroom, kitchen and livingroom, especially for larger groups.
