f(x) to debut in Japan next January

On September 4th, SM Entertainment’s maknae group f(x) announced that they’ll be making their official Japanese debut in January of 2012!

f(x) successfully introduced themselves to several thousand Japanese fans at the ‘SM TOWN Live in Tokyo‘ concerts with their hit tracks, “La Cha Ta“, “Chu“, “Hot Summer“, and “Pinocchio“.

The girls stated, “It’s an honor to perform in the Tokyo Dome. We’ve brought with us some good news — we’ll be officially promoting in Japan starting next year. We’ll return to Japan with a more mature image, so please wait for us.”

In the press conference after the concert, leader Victoria elaborated, “Every time we perform at the SM concerts, I think that we learn a lot from our seniors and come away with the determination to work harder. Early next year, we’ll be making our debut, so we want to take this opportunity to get our name out there. I hope that when we make our debut next year, we’ll receive a lot of support from our Japanese fans.”

i would personally want them to delay their chinese debut for as long as possible. if suju m's debut and activities taught me anything, it's that it's impossible to find good hq rips of them doing anything that aren't rmvb files and i hate watching lipsynched performances. and that's basically all i got with suju's chinese activities.

I hate the fact that the performances are always lipsynched. And if there's even enough audience noises they'll put in a studio version over the original lipsynched one. Way to butcher the suspension of disbelief.

yeah but they kind of have a built-in fanbase with two members of chinese descent, and they'd be able to promote in taiwan, too. in theory it makes sense, but yeah, the market isn't as big as it is in japan.

I'm not a huge fan.. I mostly just stan Krystal lol but I think they were pretty successful with their recent album? I think they had the highest album sales for a girlgroup this year, and their songs were pretty successful too. Idk about fanbase though, but I imagine they have a decent following.

I wish they'd release one more album in Korea before seriously pursuing overseas activities.

And I always thought that for the most part they would be wholly focused on China for their overseas promotions, what with Victoria and Amber being in the group and Luna learning Chinese and the Chinese advertisements and such. Japan obviously has a bigger music market but SM is quite determined to crack the Chinese market. I would think that it's fairly certain that f(x) is going to debut in China at some point so it's surprising to see them debut in Japan first, especially so soon. I wonder if a Japanese debut was always in the cards or if it's a more recent development?
