omonatheydidL of INFINITE acts in Japanese drama for his first time. “JIU -Detectives in charge of special investigation of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department” This drama is known as famous actresses join together,Meisa Kuroki and Mikako Tabe. HanLove editor asked him some questions at his first visiting in Japan for the sake of this drama.
====INTERVIEW====
Interviewer: Today was so tiring for you,wasn’t it? There were so many interview sessions.
L: I think there were more than 10 medias. It was a little bit hard for me,but I’m very glad so many people came to take interviews for me. I feel strained that they remark on me,on the other side I’m so excited.
Interviewer: It’s your first time to act in Japanese drama,isn’t it? How do you feel?
L: It is an honor to act with famous actors,and I’m trying to do my best as I can act well as they do. In fact,my special feature and hobby is “making effort”. (LOL)
Interviewer: How could you be decided to act in this drama?
L: Well, I tried out for the audition,I was continued to stare at director’s eyes with eagerness. I was speaking in my mind “I can do,I will do my best”. (LOL)
Interviewer: What kind of person “JIU” that you act as?
L: He hides anger in his mind, he is very gloomy person. Mysterious criminal.
Interviewer: When you were chosen as actor,how was other members’ reaction?
L: They were like this way,”Huh? Really?” They were surprised but happy to my success. Before coming here,all other members cheered me up and told me “Fighting! Do your best!”
Interviewer: So they saw you off today in the morning?
L: No, my departure was at 3 am,they were totally sleeping. Now I’m thinking of other members,I wonder they are thinking of me or not.
Interviewer: This time you act with Meisa Kuroki and Mikako Tabe,how do you feel about them?
L: Firstly,it’s great honor to act with famous actresses like them. It seems there will be lots of action scenes,Meisa Kuroki likes to act in such scenes,so I will do my best as she does.
Interviewer: Oh do you like action scenes?
L: Action scenes,I like them very much. INFINITE’s second album concludes a song named “BTD(Before The Dawn)”, we took music videos for the song. Director suggested stand-in actors should have acted, but Woohyun and I refused that,we told him “We will do act by ourselves.” Then we acted in all wire work and fight scenes.
Interviewer: Were you alright?
L: That day we took video was the coldest day ever in that winter season. It was hard for me. Anyway I was seriously punched by Woohyun because we mistimed. That scene was used in mv,and impression is still in my mind. Maybe Woohyun and I never forget that mv for our whole life.
Interviewer: Have you taken lesson course of acting?
L: No,I took no lesson of acting especially. But I watched lots of dramas,movies and musical stages to learn.
Interviewer: Have you watched Japanese drama?
L: Yes,I watched “Boys over flowers(2005)” and “Pride(2004)”. Recently I’m watching “Master of Study(2005)”.
Interviewer: Who is your favorite actress?
L: In Korean actress,I like Kim Taehee ssi very much. In Japan,I like Meisa Kuroki who I act together this time.
Interviewer: What kind of preparation did you do to have activity in Japan?
L: I’m trying to speak Japanese anytime. Particularly staying in Japan,I hear Japanese all the way in normal life. When I move on car, “Hidari,mae,migi” (*Left,front,right). And more like this, “Toirewa Dokodesuka.” (*Where is restroom?) (LOL) I’m going on a diet these days. This time my role is infant boy,I’m doing much exercises. I’m trying to do hard exercises to keep in good shape, however, I don’t need so much muscles.
Interviewer: Please give message to fans in Japanese.
L: Nihongo wa ima benkyou chuu desu. Arigatou gozaimasu. Yoroshiku onegai shimasu. Sukidesu. (LOL) (*I’m studying Japanese now. Thank you. I beg your kindness. I like you. )
Interviewer: Do you like cartoons,don’t you?
L: Yes,I like them.
Interviewer: What is your favorite these days?
L: Once a week I read “Naruto”. I love it. I like other Japanese cartoons too, for example “Prince of Tennis”,”Bleach”,”One piece”,”Fate/stay night”,”Kureyon Shinchan”. I have cartoon dolls in my home.
Interviewer: Who is your favorite character?
L: Chopper from “One piece”!
Interviewer: I know Chopper.
L: I heard Chopper was chosen to be the most popular character in “One piece” recently.
Interviewer: Really?
L: Haven’t you ever heard? I knew it.
Interviewer: I heard your hobby is taking picture,you take some photos still now?
L: Yes I take some pictures. For other INFINITE members,I took so many private photos like Udon(*Japanese noodles) or town landscape. When I go back to Korea,I will show them my pictures.
Interviewer: In Korea,where do you take photos usually?
L: I don’t have any settled places. Taking pictures of other members’ usual faces, or while we are going to working. I never put away my camera when I go abroad.
Interviewer: Some minutes ago,you showed us your good-looking faces in photoshooting for this magazine. Do you think of activity as model?
L: If I get work as model,I will really do my best. I don’t want to spend time to only one thing,I want to do well either in every work as singer,actor,model.
Interviewer: Now this is the last question. Tell us Korean sentences that you want Japanese fans to remember.
L: My recommendation is “L-san,sarang hamnida”. (*L,I love you.)
Interviewer: So when they should use it?
L: Please say it when you asked by someone like this way. “Who is your favorite singer?”,”Who is your favorite actor?”,”Who is the best man you love in Korean?” (LOL)

L showed up in front of press journalists (almost women) with tension on his face. Firstly he gave self introduction in Japanese.
“Hajimemashite L desu. 180senchi,19sai,O-gata desu. Sukinakoto wa ryouri to nihon no manga desu. Tokugi wa gitaa wo hiku kototo,nunchaku wo tsukau kotodesu. Sukina haiyuu ha Won Bin san to Oguri Shun san desu. Ima,nihongo wo benkyouchuu desu.”
(*Nice to meet you,I’m L. My height is 180cm, I’m 19years old, my blood type is O. My hobby is cooking and reading Japanese comic books. My special features are playing guitar and using Nunchaku. My favorite actors are Won Bin and Oguri Shun. Now I’m studying Japanese.)
Then he sat on chair speaking in low voice “Muzukashii,nihongo muzukashii desu.” (*Difficult. Speaking Japanese is difficult.) Press journalists smiled at him.
Afterward he told he was good at cooking Kimchi fried rice and Teogboggi. (But its taste quality never be kept nice.)
L answered lots of popping up questions smoothly. He looks different from him when he is in INFINITE.
“I don’t stand out when I’m with them. It’s because other members are so noisy. If I speak loud together,no one can help us. So I’m in charge of cool atmosphere in INFINITE.(LOL)”
At last he showed us his terrific Nunchaku playing,then the press conference was over.
