Welcome to North Korea is a grotesquely surreal look at the all-too-real conditions in modern-day North Korea. Dutch filmmaker Peter Tetteroo and his associate Raymond Feddema spent a week in and around the North Korean capital of Pyongyang

i've already watched part of this documentry, and i've also watched other documentries about north korea. its such an interesting yet sad topic, it kinda reminds me of old germany (back when it was in 2 parts), but i think even then the people in germany had better lifes than the ones in north korea. i srsly hope that north & south korea can unite in the future and people there can live happily ever after. it must be really horrible for the teens in north korea to live there, knowing that only a few kilometres away people their age can go night clubbing, listen to the music they like, dress like they want and also that they have cell phones, computers, internet, various magazines, etc.

.. idk if i can say this but the only "good" thing about north korea is that plastic surgery or being pretty in general isnt a big deal in their society like in the south.

this was depressing to watch. the gifts of cows were something. and even tho the documentary is old, north korea probably hasn't changed all that much...

I'm reminded of North Korean photos where they often talk about the lack of people in areas of opulence. This exhibit (http://www.behance.net/gallery/Welcome-to-Pyongyang/827508) captures that surrealism also.

One point I found interesting was the commentary about the US soldiers' atrocities against the Korean mothers and children. That bit of truth in much of the propaganda and mythologizing of this society feels significant and perhaps something to also consider when reflecting over North Korea.

It'll be interesting to see what happens in the next few years considering Kim Jong-il's declining health.
