Tohoshinki: ~From Boys to Men~
Tohoshinki restarted their activities at the beginning of this year. They appeared on ViVi after a one and half year absence. During the time, they matured and we couldn't see the little boys we had known in them any more. Today, we asked them to look back their growth over the time.

About New Album
Everything, such as voice and atmosphere, has become manlier!
You will be releasing the new album for the first time in two and half years, right?
YH: Yes, it's been a long time. I'm happy to introduce our new album at last.
CM: I believe fans will realize we have become manlier than before, for example, our way of singing and the entire atmosphere.
YH: I think the new album gives a more mature image musically. It mainly consists of dance music, but also contains various kinds of music such as ballad and soul-ish music. We are confident in the quality of the album. Oh, it can't be expressed in words. So please listen to our album. All messages that we'd like to convey now are in there.
CM: That's well said! *laugh*
About Real Voice
They underwent the same psychological test as one and half years ago.
I’ll ask you the same question as one and half years ago. What’s your favorite animal and why?
YH: My favorite animal is leopard because leopards keep on pursuing their goal until it is accomplished! It’s cool.
CM: I like dogs because dogs are gentle-natured and cute. Don't you think so?
The part you like about the animal is the part you like about yourself. You want to be praised for it.
CM: Am I gentle-natured...? Ummm...?
YH: Changmin is super cute and gentle (laugh). The psychological test is valid for me, too.
Your answer was leopard one and a half year ago too, Yunho-san.
YH: Ummm, I haven’t changed.
Changmin-san, your favorite animal was deer and the reason was because deer has long legs and beautiful body line (laugh).
CM: To be honest, I was confused which to choose, dog or deer. Well, I still like my neck line... (shy)
About Myself
YH: I've become tidier thanks to Changmin (laugh).

YH: My tidiness score has improved to 2 thanks to Changmin. He can't stand a mess...
CM: Yunho is supposed to become tidier (laugh). My change is... I rated my Cheerfulness as 2, but, to tell the truth, it's improved to 2 recently. On the other hand, calmness declined to 3. I get offended easily in summer because of the heat... So my calmness will increase to 4 again in winter (laugh).
What do you think you improved the most from the debut time?
YH: I've become less perfectionistic. I didn't used to stand one mistake of choreography, but now I think a mistake as a conversational topic. I turned from a perfectionist to a free spirit (laugh).
CM: I praise myself more than before. I used to reproach and condemn myself severely for a mistake.
YH: Besides, Changmin used to worry alone when he was down, "What should I do? What can I do?". Now he talks to me or our staff members about his problems. I'm proud of him for striving hard to become more cheerful.
CM: I think what Yunho said is true. But it's hard to get rid of my short temper although I’m striving...
About a-nation
The history of Tohoshinki started at a-nation.
You will have the last a-nation stage in Tokyo around when ViVi October Issue is released, right?
CM: It's been two years.
YH: Tohoshinki has been attending a-nation since we were a new artist. So a-nation is an event which represents the history and growth of Tohoshinki. We will be singing rousing songs including a medley of our old songs. Please come to listen to our songs.
CM: What Yunho said right now is true. a-nation represents a history of Tohoshinki. I don't like hot weather, but we had to perform in the hot weather of summer afternoon. Now we've been promoted to evening class and allowed to perform in a cooler weather. It makes me happier more than anything (laugh). That means we are free from the influence of the summer heat and can show the audience our best performance.
YH: We will sing and dance with our full power!
About Love
Their philosophy of love has remained the same.
What fans are interested in most is, of course, your philosophy of love. Have your philosophy of love changed?
YH: I like a girl who is cheerful and can give me advices. This hasn't changed, but now there is one more condition "a girl who can cook". I love both Korean food and Japanese food. I’m pretty sure I will eat anything that my girlfriend cooks gratefully!
CM: What I expect from girls has remained unchanged. I like a girl who is more cheerful and positive than me. This will never change.
YH: My philosophy of love hasn't changed, either: The most important thing for a man is to have a strong sense of responsibility. But my attitude toward love and marriage has a little changed. I wanted to get married as soon as possible, but recently I've been thinking I don't need romance until I'm ready to take responsibility for someone's life. Now I want to devote all my energies to my work. I will find someone when I'm ready to bring romance into my life. Now, I'm telling myself I don’t need to rush into romance because I’m still young (laugh).
CM: I didn't have so much interest in girls when I was a teenager. Besides I was too shy to take any action in front of girls. I'm still a little shy, but have got rid of most of it.
Yunho-san said in the previous interview, "My problem is I don't understand girls’ feelings". Have you learned about girls' feelings?
YH: I still don't understand girls' feelings. The most difficult thing in this world is to understand girls. The more time I spend with them, the less I understand them... but I think it a good thing. I can find new aspect of them every day, and even shortcoming is a new sensation for me.
CM: I don't understand girls, either. I do not, never did and probably never will. But I don’t give up understanding them!
Tohoshinki Report
We followed Tohoshinki's movement throughout the shooting and paparazzied everything such as their off-the-record talk, a game they played during a break of the shooting and a story of Changmin's fringe. This report is full of their real face♥
No.1 Yunho likes candles!?
When Yunho was playing with candle wax on the floor, he gave a surprised voice "Ouch!". The candle wax seemed hotter than he expected. But he said immediately "No problem because I’m a man". Cool!
No.2 Changmin is orderly even outside the camera.
Look at him! How good posture he has. This is a shooting of his face only, but he sits with his back straight. Changmin, what are you thinking with your eyes closed?
No.3 They are in better condition when they are together
Yunho looked a little serious when he is alone. But he got relaxed as soon as Changmin came back from his solo shooting. He put his nose into Changmin's interview, "I'm proud of him~" etc. etc.
No.4 We will extinguish a candle with soul power! Haaaa!
The boys pointed at the fire of the candle again and again, saying "Go out"! They were like lovely innocent children. Unfortunately, they wasn't able to distinguish the candle with soul power and blew out them after the shooting.
No.5 The fringe is the key point.
The key point of Changmin's new hairstyle is long fringe over eyes. So he takes time to set his fringe. But it seem to get into his eyes sometimes, and he was blinking several times during the shooting.
No.6 My favorite fashion is...
Yunho checked ViVi before his interview. He was watching the pages of super simple fashion intently. Does he like cool fashion? He also checked the cover of the magazine and said "Namie Amuro is on the front cover!"
No.7 Soft knit, Warm light and Close relationship
While we are checking their photos, they leant on each other in a laid-back atmosphere. They had been lacking sleep because of their tight schedule and was struggling against sleepiness in dim illumination, saying "I almost fall asleep"
No.8 I don’t open the present now because...
ViVi gave them clothes as a present. Yunho opened it right away, while Changmin is reluctant to open it. He explained the reason, "I ate Tebasaki just now and my fingers are sticky!"

It's great that he's fiercely yet gently independent, but I'm also glad that he's willing to open up more now. I think it shows how comfortable with and confident of himself and his surroundings he's become. Perhaps he's a little bit of a free spirit too.
