JYP Entertainment in association with Nick Cannon’s company N’credible, just finalized their network agreement last week, to air through TV station Teen Nick. The show is slated to air in the first quarter of 2012 and will consist of a total of over 6 episodes. Filming for the tv movie will begin in October.
This will be the first time for Asian artists to have a tv movie series airing in the US, so both fans and producers are in high anticipation.
JYP Entertainment told allkpop, “Wonder Girls’ US debut album will be released in timing with the movie, as its OST album.”

I'm not sure how to feel about this...I want a Korean album release damnit and more than 2 weeks of promos! ;A; but I will watch their movie no matter how much i'll cringe.

Nickelodeon is better than a Disney show plus they are under the MTV umbrella. I agree they should try a different TV debut. Looking at the current offerings, this is the best opening for them.

More than two weeks of promo would be great.
I don't care if they don't do the variety show route.
I just want to see them performing and doing fun interviews/talk shows for a while :/

But I will try nd watch this Nickelodeon show even tho I have little hope that it will be amazing.
Just hoping it won't be cringe worthy because these girls are so hardworking :D

LOL at "a total of over 6 episodes"

actually, i think two weeks is enough. i usually don't watch the performances after two weeks unless they do something different. it's always pretty much the same, just different clothes. they must go on that 'chocolate' show though and make some special performances.

forever. Maybe end of 08?

And I was wondering about that too. I'd think a lot of fans would have lost interest. (I have, i like them still but it's kinda like w/e.) I wonder how they'd have done up against groups now if they were stedily promoting there. I wonder how long SNSD vs WG fan wars would have gone on if they stayed? Would there be less nugu girl groups? idk

Smart move in my opinion. They are marketing to their target group who will most likely love Wonder Girls in America and that is tweens. After they gain a larger fanbase, they could become bigger just like how miley did. She had a tv shows and made music for it.

excited that they're filming a tv movie, but you know how a great deal of america reacts to tv shows from teen nick, disney, etc. :(
I will def. buy their albulm though.

those people on ontd may judge and dislike those acts but they can really make you incredibly popular. just look at how much Miley Cyrus is making.

Big move from JYP. Kinda weird that they're catered to tweens. Let's see how this works.

tweens would be the only people in the US to take kpop seriously. I dont think the cutesyness of it all would work for an older demographic.

i honestly don't get why people claim that the wonder girls faile din america when they clearly didn't. i actually really respect jyp for understanding that the american market is not like the korean, where it's easier to debut a group due to music shows and the fact that people enjoy idols and girl and boy groups.

i love the fact that he is aware that the fame in america won't happen out of nowhere because they were huge in korea and in fact entered the american market with a true rookie mentality, working from the bottom and not being ashamed of it because they are big shots in korea or simply walking away when it didn’t work. and it actually paid of. to some people this deals is ridiculous and doesn't mean much, but to me this is huge. it will give them exposure to the demographic group that they'll firstly cater, because let’s be real, it's tweens and teens that girl and boy groups appeal the most and then slowly an older fan base appears.

all the moves they are doping seem incredible smart to me, you go jyp coco and i'm proud and happy for you girls.

Well said, girl.

People really can't see the forest for the trees, it seems. Probably no where else but K-pop (and to a lesser extent, J-pop) can a brand new music act debut and already have an established fan base, commercial deals and of course, live broadcasts 4 times a week on national television. WG are just slumming it out like 95% of successful US artists, and 2 years as unknowns = just a drop in the bucket compared to what others have to struggle through.

The only bone I really have to pick with JYP is how he didn't utilize the momentum WG had after the Jonas tour to release the album then (seriously, they actually gained quite a few new fans from those concerts). Then I think about how Sunmi left and that made recording/finalizing things that much harder, and how time had to be allocated to introduce Lim to the fans. So really, even I can understand that delay.

As a super stan, even I have my reservations about this particular outlet but will acknowledge that it can be great exposure, given the proper execution (more Spice Girls/Spice World, less "School Gyrls" or however you spell it).

And even if it's bad, 's all good. I'll just have a 'bad K-pop movie' night and watch it back-to-back with Jay's Hype Nation ahaha.

If it's going to be as silly and childish as Big Time Rush's show, I will not be able to stand watching it... but I just want the album. Wonder Girl's debuted 4 years ago and their discography is pitiful.

I think this is good news. It's directly targeting the audience they're most likely to see a response from them. I'm kinda confused as to weather it's a tv series or a movie or what though... If it is a series, I hope it's not overly campy and childish.
