"1 Night 2 Days" will end in 6 months

The head director of KBS’ entertainment, Jun Jin Kook, said on the 19th, “We made the final decision to close the program One Day And Two Nights in six months. We have discussed about this for a while, and the production crew and cast all agreed to do their best to make a happy closing.

There will not be a season two for this show. A new program will open when the show ends. For now, we begin to design on the new program.”

After the emcee Kang’s announcement of getting himself off from One Day And Two Nights, the program remained in question about whether it will close or not.



KBS’s ‘1 Night 2 Days‘ has announced that the hit variety program will be running for six more months before it comes to a close in February 2012.

All of the cast members reportedly made a mutual agreement with the producers of the show, saying that they would be leaving altogether in six months.

Their official press release reads as follows:

“We would first like to thank all of the viewers who have shown love for ‘1 Night 2 Days’. For the past four years, KBS’s ‘1 Night 2 Days’ has been an extremely joyful program that’s received the generous love of its viewers.

Because of recent events, many discussions have been taking place internally. After holding a frank, open-minded discussion with the ‘1 Night 2 Day’ members, including Kang Ho Dong-ssi, we have come to a final decision that we will be announcing to viewers in the following paragraphs:

The members of ‘1 Night 2 Days’, including KBS and Kang Ho Dong-ssi, cannot imagine a ‘1 Night 2 Days’ without any of its members. We have come to a consensus of starting and ending the show together as one.



As a program that runs true to form, there is no ‘end’. The case is usually members pitifully departing one by one due to a drop in viewer ratings.

‘1 Night 2 Days’, a program that’s praised for being the ‘nation’s variety show’, is the result of much sweat and effort from the members and staff. We do not want something that shines so brightly to meet with a pitiful end. Realistically, the members also all agree that ‘1 Night 2 Days’ cannot continue on forever.

As such, all of the members have agreed to do their absolute best for the next six months and bring the show to a successful conclusion.

We’ve worked with passion for the past four years, and will continue to do so for the next six months. We’ll be working as if each episode is the last and promise to move our citizens and provide them with laughter. We ask that you continue to show us your interest and love."

PD Na Young Suk gives an in-depth explanation about “1N2D” coming to an end



Na Young Suk PD of KBS’s “1 Night, 2 Days”, has spoken up about the program’s conclusion in six months.

After KBS announced that “1N2D” would end in six months, the PD made a statement through Newsen. ”We discussed the issue with all of the cast members, production crew, and the KBS Entertainment department for a long time… There’s an ending for dramas, but not for entertainment shows. We hope that the ending of “1N2D” can show that an entertainment program could have a successful ending,” he said with his tone full of regret.

Na continued, “Although dramas and other programs have conclusions and have time to take a breath, “1N2D” was not able to. We received so much love and ran for such a long time… Since we had non-entertainers in our cast, we had many parts we needed to drop and there were hard times at the turning point in our lives”.

“A typical entertainment show’s lifespan concludes when viewer ratings dropped, but we are suggesting a new paradigm, hoping that the viewers could understand… In other words, we hope we could be the first case where a program ends when it’s receiving the most love, thus creating the first ‘ending’.”

Na added, “Kang Ho Dong and the rest of the members agreed on the idea of a ’successful ending’. During these short remaining six months, we want to show everything we haven’t shown, and everything we could have shown.”

As for his personal thoughts on ‘1N2D’ coming to end, Na Young Suk said, “I think [the ending] discussion was something that was bound to happen at one point. Looking back, making the cast – which is mostly composed of singers and actors – give their lives up for the entertainment field could have been something cruel… To encourage the growth of the members, as well as open up a new path for the entertainment field, I believe that we, “1N2D”, need to carry on with our decision.”

“We still have six months, which is quite a long time…We will stay on the path we’ve been going down in order to have a ’successful ending’.”

The reporter on the phone then asked Na, “Is this the end of “1N2D?”, to which Na replied, “There is no such thing as an ending. If there’s an ending, there is another beginning.”

He concluded, “If it’s not a sad ending, but a happy one, wouldn’t there be another beginning? …One day, a program titled “1N2D” can be created again, and be done again. Whether its comprised of new members or mixed members, I believe ‘1N2D’ can begin again at any given time.”

i love this cast and PD na young so much!!! ): I'm gonna miss them but I think it's better that it ends now after 4 years then see it start falling down in ratings and dying slowly and painfully. Plus they're all leaving all at once. I can't wait to see them in other shows though and I hope PD Na young gets another show soon. he's awesome<3

I just.. I just can't face this now, my 6 favourite guys, omo, otoke??!! I am still waiting for the day Mong to come back again, this is so hard to take. My heart is so heavy right now, my weekends will never be the same again.

I am going to miss this show so much, the first korean show that I fell in love with and got addicted to. I know that this is inevitable and that nothing last forever. But still it is going to hurt really bad before it gets better.

Sorry for my ranting, it's that time of the month when I feel like crying and weeping about EVERYTHING.. especially when my favourite show that I grew attached to for the past couple of years is going to end soon.

i'm gonna be an ass and blame this all on KHD. he's my least favourite member of the cast. when i thought he was withdrawing from the show, i couldn't be happier. then this happened. i feel bad for um taewoong. i will miss every one of them except KHD.

I think it was mentioned in previous articles that there has been business negotiations involving both khd and na pd about moving to different companies

though it's pretty true that without him, the show cannot continue.

also that khd brought all teh members to his vacation villa a few months back and actually told them a long time ago!

everyone has the mindset that KHD is the focus of the show and without him it would fail miserably, but i'm not so sure. it's a real pity that think the members are not confident enough to carry on the show by themselves because almost all of them are funnier than he is.

KHD's the "face" of 2d1n, for sure, since the korean public knows him best. i feel that's all he can contribute. i'm with the camp that finds him obnoxious and annoying. i know he's not an asshole to people irl, but if the rumours were true, then it's still a dick move.

Oh yes, networks not companies sorry.

it's more like he's the main mc and he carries the show basically, and while they could do well without him and undoubtedly survive, it wouldn't be the same without him since he has such a vital and notable role in defining the show. suguen to me is much funnier, and seung gi is my forever bias, but hodong does have a big role in how the show actually proceeds and he does sort of help out the other members in their images (ie seung gi talked about how thankful he is to his hyungdeul for acting evil/deceiving to make him look better).

i think he does have his obnoxious and annoying moments, but he's still a good guy if the other members like him so much.

yeah i get what you mean. he cheats and persuades the PDs after losing games, and this makes the opposing team look good in the eyes of the viewers. idk though, i find this type of forced histrionics unnecessary when they're promoting 'real variety' to begin with. i guess i'm just bitter cos i'm a huge sugeun stan. even though he has other shows on, he shines the most in 2d1n out of all of them. this could potentially kill his career (one that has only started to blossomed so late in its years), and that's true for jiwon's and um taewoong's as well. i hate strong heart with a passion, so i'm gonna miss seeing seunggi a whole lot :(

re: the Na PD issue, i was asking if it's the same deal as hodong's case, that SBS/MBC approached him. do PDs strictly stick to producing for one network in Korea? i find that so odd.

i get what you mean, they probably use that sort of system to make the show interesting to viewers who'd be bored of a very peaceful traveling show and it does make the show somewhat different from others. it's mainly real variety to me on how the games they play actually matter, and they travel as shown, there's no "CUT" then a switch to comfort or something like that.

doesn't suguen have gag con? and another show where he mcs? i think the show is big enough, and will be bigger in 6 months, to help him sustain a constant flow of jobs. if not, i'm sure he's made a lot so far from all of his working. i might be wrong though, i'm not the most up to date on sugeun. jiwon has been working for a long time, and i think aside from the usual showing on another variety show he'll probably just chill and maybe release a few more singles in the future. not as big, but he still has his whole sechkiss thing going on for now. um taewoong sadly i wish he got more time to become big in variety ): he's a great and popular actor, but hopefully there'll be enough time for him to really branch out and make a name for himself in the variety world.

seunggi's having a comeback in music around october (rumored)! but yes, i'll definitely miss him on 1n2d. it showed parts of him that really make him so endearing ):

oh, no i think for both of them it was something about making a seperate broadcasting company. hodong does both kbs and sbs so they aren't tied or at least he isn't. as for na pd i think he only does kbs shows, and idk if it's not allowed but it's probably uncommon.

gag con doesn't really pay the bills. i suppose its history and reputation may be quite deceiving. i've heard many a gag man, who were invited on happy together, tell stories about how they still struggle with their finances, etc. i just hope that sugeun gets onto another show that will be as well-received as 2d1n. as for jiwon's singing/rapping career... well, i'm not sure he makes much out of it either. seunggi's the only one who's got his back covered with all the endorsement deals, haha.

I used to watch 1n2d but not so much anymore. Sad news but I'm not really devastated, actually it's a bit like messy break up imo. Na PD is such a philosopher talking about endings :D

It's hard to imagine this show over but I agree, they can't go on forever. ^^ I remember they always said the contract was til death and they'd play games even as grandpas :D
