???: "ohlolhey, i'm just climbing into sungmin's bed naked. no big deal" Sungmin: *eyes covered* "yeah yeah yeah, just get in the bed so I can open my eyes already. I don't want to have to feel my way through this, okay?"
ugh! i wasn't done with my comment and i already click on the post button. ugh!
anyhoo, i recently watched this korean program that ranked the earnings of different korean celebrities outside korea. i didn't get to watch the whole show, but they showed the rankings for china, southeast asia and japan. rain was the highest earner in china and suju came in second. in southeast asia, suju came in 1st. in japan suju came in 4th. snsd, jan geun seuk and dbsk were the top 3 in japan. and over-all, it was snsd, jgs, suju, rain, dbsk were the top earners. i'm pretty sure in korea, suju isn't even part of the top 5. and probably would make it in the top 10/20 highest earning kpop celebs.
I think those that are more popular outside of Korea tend to have lesser fanbases in Korea since they're not there all the time. I mean, sure, a lot of the members are in Korean variety shows whole year round, but as a group, Suju isn't like other idol groups who make a "comeback" every 4months (which technically defeats the term "comeback" if it's done so often). But outside of Korea, it is very true that they really earn a lot. I mean, just their Super Show concerts alone are one of, if not the most, successful Korean concert tours around Asia.
"People who saw our first performance said we looked spiteful. We are still always hungry, desperate and thirsty" my heart SANK reading that. I'm still not sure if it's a figure of speech or if they're acknowledging that they are underfed, underslept, overworked all the time ;___;
YESUNG'S QUOTE ;______;
SIWON'S QUOTE ;______;
;__________________; THEY'RE SO BEAUTIFUL, ALL OF THEM.
yah I don't know why SUJU has so many international fans...me included.Funny thing, I wasn't into BSB/NYSNC back in the day (even though I was the target audience).
Yeah, me neither. But I see groups like DBSK and Beast being more in the line of the boy bands like BSB and NSCYNC. Suju has a different feel. For me at least.
Suju has a different feel. For me at least. true! me too, that's how I feel I mean at first sight, it seems like it's just another boyband but once you get to know them better there's that something that makes you attached to them
This just shows how how long they've been in the industry. And also how they are actually adults, not kids even though they sometimes look or behave like that. They know how to talk about each other so insightfully. Only thing I'm not happy with is the lack of Kyuhyun in this. He said nothing during the interview and then his quote was just generic and about his musical. I wanted him to be deep and insightful as well...
But it's kind of bittersweet. I'm not saying Koreans should like them or anything. If it's not their cup of tea, that's completely fine. But I hope the support they receive from abroad at least lets them hold their head up high at home as well. Nobody puts Suju in a corner!
They have grown up up so much. I am proud of the fact that they have such a huge fanbase outside Korea. I think they are a standard that all young groups should aspire to.
"Rather than thinking that I have to be successful, I think "I want to have no regrets when I work." I think it's more important to self-assess how much you poured yourself into this rather than looking at numbered records."
ILY Yesung ;___; This quote basically sums up how I am getting through school and work right now. I love that Wookie is getting to be more talkative now (and showing his endless amount of energy).
Beautiful interview. I always find it sad that SuJu has like the biggest international fanbase but back at home they're not as popular. They joke about it a lot, but I think it gets to them. :(
so proud of them my boys have come a long long way, they started as kids but now they're all grown up men & stronger than ever SJ isn't really about the music as much as it is about the special bond they share & the feeling of happiness they give their fans & that's why we love them
it's sad they're losing their local fanbase to younger & fresher bands but they know they're somewhat still "alive" today partly thanks to their international fans, that's why they're thankful. all the love they've earnt outside of Korea didn't come randomly. it's the result of years of hardwork, they deserved it.
I still wish Sungmin would stop being so self-deprecating. He says he's jealous that the other members have such great personalities, but he has one too! Argh my bias can never see his own wonderfulness ;A;
