Getting a ticket to SHINee’s Japan Debut Premium Reception event was really hard, but with the help of some friends, I managed to go to the Nagoya reception held on the 11th. Though the seats were all pre-assigned, people lined up really early in the crazy heat to buy goods which were only available to people who enter the hall. This is unusual because goods are usually sold outside so people who didn’t get a ticket can also get them. Not this time! Here were the available goods.

Of note, I found the perfume extremely lulzy (A fresh tropical fruit scent made with SHINee’s image in mind!) All the goods sold out extremely quickly except for the fans.
One good was a surprise picture (you don’t know which member you will get) and fans immediately started trading for their favorite members after buying and opening them. I got two Taemin pics, so I was easily able to trade for a Key one and a Jonghyun one.
Needs more hats.
Fans were very friendly asking for trades, and the most searched for members seemed to be Taemin and Minho(waylt?). I didn’t hear anyone ask for Onew.
The actual event lasted only 30 minutes, consisting of 3 songs and a talk, like this:

The singing and dancing was good as always, but Taemin’s voice seemed weak to me again and cracked. Jonghyun was belting his guts out and sounded glorious.
The talk was really the best part because they are so weird/random. I jotted down notes in the hall right after the event finished. Please remember that the talk was in Korean and Japanese and translated, and then I am translating from Japanese to English and from memory, so some things might be a bit off!
Overall, Key and Jonghyun dominated the conversation with Minho throwing in comments once in awhile. Key often didn’t wait for the translation and answered in Japanese directly. Jonghyun was also speaking a lot of Japanese and has really, really improved! Taemin and Onew were super quiet.
They started with their introductions. “I’m the leader Onew, I’m Jonghyun. &@#%#$#@, I’m Minho, I am the almighty key, Key.” Taemin couldn’t even say his introduction. I have no idea was language that even was.
Then standard questions – they are happy to be received well in Japan, glad to see their fans, etc.
They were then asked about studying Japanese. Key answered quickly (in Japanese and with no translation) that they were all studying hard, and when asked what was the most difficult thing, he said 3 things – pronunciation, accent, and intonation. The MC complimented Key on his great Japanese.
Next, they were asked words they recently learned, and they mentioned things in Nagoya dialect. Key said, “Dera suki da” which is “I really like you” in Nagoya dialect, but caused fans around me to giggle and whisper because it sounded like he said “Fera suki da” which means “I like blow jobs.”
He and Jonghyun also said they learned “Moe” (otaku word to express cuteness) and “Agepoyo” (gal slang word for when you are excited/something is fun) recently. Jonghyun and Key repeated moe~ multiple times to the fangirl’s delight. Who the hell is teaching them Japanese? Can we fire this person?
Next, they were asked about eating different foods around Japan, and they named many of Nagoya’s famous dishes. When asked if they had eaten Tebasaki (Nagoya’s famous chicken wings), all the members said no except for Onew who said in shaky Japanese that he had eaten them. Key, Minho, and Jonghyun immediately starting hounding Onew. “We didn’t eat them!” “He’s a liar!” To which Onew replied that he had eaten them by himself the night before.
(Onew and his chicken, I can’t.)
Taemin said his only line in the interview saying Japanese food was tasty. (The fans response to his 1 sentence was insanity. You would have thought he said I am going to have sex with each and every one of you or something.)
They then showed a video of their performance in London that showed some backstage prep, fans at the airport and outside the studio, and them recording. They talked about Jonghyun being unable to perform except for the final song because he had a 40 degree fever. (This boy, always having problems for huge events.)
Jonghyun said he was sad he could not perform, but he was glad the members made a perfect show even without him. He finished his answer saying, "Thank you, Minho.”
"He's in love with me," Minho replied
“It’s friendship!” Jonghyun yelped.
You two have been flirting like crazy lately.
Other things:
Key and Jonghyun came out holding the fans that were for sale at the concert. Jonghyun was fanning Taemin a lot, and I was shocked to see Key lend his fan to Minho.
In the middle of the talk, fans were screaming out the members’ names and Key answered one of them, causing all of them to scream so loudly it was hard to hear the MC. This continued and seemed to make Jonghyun upset as he tried to quiet the fans. When they were finally relaxed again, Taemin, seemingly oblivious, waved to a girl who called his name, starting the whole thing over again. Jonghyun gave him an epic glare.
That’s about it! It was so short. And this is so long. My bad. Hurry up, SMTown! I need moar SHINee!!
