Han Ye Seul asks for ‘Spy Myung Wol’ PD to be switched out

With the controversy between actress Han Ye Seul and her KBS drama ‘Spy Myung Wol‘ escalating by the minute, the problem has been revealed to be not her health condition, but conflicts with the drama’s PD, Hwang In Hyuk.

Han Ye Seul reportedly had problems with the PD since the beginning of the drama. With her condition worsening due to the tight filming schedules, tensions were on the rise, leading to more conflicts. In the end, Han Ye Seul requested for the PD to be changed out.

KBS responded by adding an additional PD, Kim Young Kyun, but did not change out PD Hwang In Hyuk.  Frustrated with the decision, the conflict escalated until she failed to show up altogether.

A representative revealed, “Han Ye Seul asked that the PD be changed out, and then did not show up for the recording on August 14th.” Han Ye Seul had been making continuous requests for the PD to improve the conditions she was working under. The PD responded by asking for her to work just a little bit harder for the drama in return.

With legal action already looming in the distance, ‘Spy Myung Wol’ will be broadcasting a highlight reel on the 15th due to inadequate footage.  Should she fail to show up today again, the episode on the 16th will be canceled altogether.

I don't blame her. If her work environment is uncomfortable and she's voiced her concerns in the past and ultimately ignored, I'd walk away too. She's not a newbie when it comes to acting, so the PD must be a giant bag of dicks for her to react like this.

None of the other actors are complaining about the PD nor anyone else on the production team so it seems more like a personal problem she has with the PD. I really think us fans should stop only thinking about the actors and think about all the people behind the scenes that make productions possible...I said this because it seems like no one else has a problem with the PD expect her in this situation even the staff.

It usual for the tight schedule drama to have two PDs. Like main and additional one, so you can shoots multiple scenes at the same time.

Watch 'The World They Within', they called it 'Team A' (where the main PD belong) and 'Team B' (the supporting team).

Han Ye Seul and her company should have explained that the PD was the reason instead of saying initially that it was because of her health and schedule (which does not seem to be the reason for her absence at all, especially now that it's the second time she hasn't shown up).

If the PD was the main problem they should have been upfront about it in the beginning. If he did assault or offend her in some way (which i think is completely possible. PD's can be shady as hell) she needs to SPEAK UP and call him out specifically on his actions instead of avoiding the entire cast and making things difficult for everyone.

idgi. not taking any sides because just like how everyone is already claiming the PD could be a rapist she could easily just be a bitch and be mad about some small little thing or misunderstanding they had. I've never heard of an actor/actress for a PD change and I do find it odd that they would even consider doing that for her just because she asked, it's not like she is the only one working with the PD, the entire staff is. They need to reveal everything and not be so vague about it otherwise it's just bad for both parties, especially her and her management who blamed all this on her being sick and now this comes out. ugh what a mess

I'm not really sure what the root of the conflict between the two is, or how long it's been going on, but I find this sort of behavoir rather unprofessional tbh. If you can't work with the person, don't sign a contract to work with them (with the exception of some kind of harassment - if that's the case, fire away). If you start work though, see it through to the end. Don't use your power as a lead once you get in, to demand that the production staff change for you just because you don't like how they work.

Maybe she was unable to see the drama to the end, either physically or mentally. The drama is super close to ending, I don't think she'd shit all over her career if her issue with the PD was a small one.

And seeing as how this is the Korean Entertainment industry, I could completely see her having valid complaints, and them just telling her to shut up and take because she's the chick. no it concerns all other actors, script writers, productions crew, hair stylist, wardrobe, etc, etc who are involved in the production of the drama. she is not the only one with other commitments she wants to be faithful to. why should everyone else involved change their schedules or give up their commitments to appease her? (which they now have to do if or when she comes back. her actions do not only concern her and rattle her life/career. it was rude, a bit selfish, and most definitely unprofessional. both she/her management are at fault.
