With the pending June 24th release of Big Bang's first Japanese single "My Heaven," Big Bang has something special planned for the fans. Big Bang will be holding a special release party at the famed Tokyo Dome for 10,000 people which will include music dignitaries and fans alike.

You usually have to work very hard before holding any type of event at the Tokyo Dome, but Big Bang has the connections because they're signed with a big label (Universal Music). Big Bang is also scheduled to appear on popular music show "Music Japan" on June 28th. Big Bang has everything set in place, now let's see how successful they'll be in Japan.

How do you think they will fare Omona? Fail? Success? I would like to see new Japanese material from them though. NGL, idk what to think of Big Bang easily getting Tokyo Dome like that. Even if it's for just a fanmeeting. I like Big Bang, but idk idk.

I'm really not sure how I feel about this. On the one hand, I love Big Bang, so this is awesome. On the other hand, when you compare how hard other artists have had to work to get shows at the Tokyo Dome, it seems a little unfair. While I'm happy for them and hope the release party goes great, the fact that they're getting in through their connections and not having to go the same route as everyone else makes me go :/

mte. i love them but they're making it seem as if it's an easy feat performing at the tokyo dome.

It feels like they're getting an easy route just because they are signed with Universal. But the thing is, hip-hop has never had a place in Japanese culture. Rap doesn't work with the language. And in Japan, pop and rock has always reigned supreme. I just don't see them fairing well at all.

I agree with the first point, not so much with the second. The success of artists like m-flo and Dragon Ash suggests that hip-hop does have a following, if a small one. And I've heard some AMAZING rap in Japanese.

From: [identity profile] missklutz16.livejournal.com
i should add that my reason for wanting them to go back to korea is a totally selfish one. i don't want them to pull the dbsk shit of releasing 4320 versions of each album and single, because i will never be able to get their entire discog that way. and japanese releases always cost like 87% more then korean ones.

Not just DBSK who had to work 4+ years to get there, even an established JE group like Arashi took more than 7 years before they made their Tokyo Dome debut, not to mention the scores of other Japanese groups/singers. Even though this is just a fan event...=/

Love BB though, and wish them success.

I like BB but... having the meeting in the TD is worthless to me. It's just like attaching a big-name star in an english-release of a song. It does nothing, really, for them in the long run if they can't conquer the language.

And really, what's good about holding anything in the dome if 75% of it isn't filled? It isn't like the dome has the best acoustics of all the performance arenas in Japan, either. If anything, the empty space will just show how much more they have to work in order to make an impact on the japanese market.

Holding the fanmeet at a smaller venue would've been better :\

They haven't worked as hard in the Japanese market, so, yeah, maybe it is a bit unfair, but I think they deserve it.
I still wish they'd get a long vacation.

Love BB and I'm glad they have such a great venue open to them, but I feel bad for the other artists who worked ridiculously hard to even perform there.

I don't know how I'd even feel standing on the stage and seeing the majority of the seats completely open. :/

lmao. nevermind. It's just a fan meeting (read it as a full-blown concert). It's not a big deal.

Okay. I don't think it's a big deal. BB are merely having a party there for 10,000 (which is practically empty by TD standards). It's not a full fledged concert like what DBSK is having.

From: [identity profile] kurogoma.livejournal.com
OK, before everyone get really upset, it needs to be clarified that there are SIX event venues at tokyo dome city. there is THE tokyo dome, and then, there are five other halls where events can be held to.

for example, AKB48 is performing at tokyo dome. but it is at one of the smaller event venue.
so....yeah. if BB is having an event at tokyo dome, it's probably NOT the tokyo dome that dbsk is performing at, but at one of the smaller halls.

but checking their official japanese website....there is no mention of tokyo dome anything in regards to their special event. only that they are performing a special event in conjunction with their single release at YOYOGI PARK......

so how accurate is that info?
