Daesung + Victims Family reach settlement!

It was just reported by local media OSEN moments ago that Daesung and the victim’s family reached a settlement over the car accident from last May. The exact details of the settlement were not revealed.

“Today Daesung and the victim’s family reached a settlement. The victim’s family expressed their desire to not have Daesung serve any punishment. They said they felt sympathy for Daesung and told him not to be agonized over the issue. The victim’s family also encouraged him to continue showing good performances,” an unnamed source was quoted as saying.

On May 31^st, Daesung accidentaly hit a motorcyclist who was lying on the street due to a previous crash that resulted from drunk driving. The motorcyclist was found dead when police came to the scene. Since the accident, Daesung has not made any public appearances, reportedly spending most of his time at home in extreme mental pain.

Following today’s settlement, Daesung is expected to speed up his recovery process as many fans anticipate his return to the K-Pop scene

Not to sound weird, but Daesung has been on my mind a lot since everything happened with him and I was getting worried not hearing anything on this matter... ANYWAYS, being a BB fanatic myself, even I was irritated that the remaining boys had all been carrying on as if nothing happened lately... but with this news, it all kinda makes sense. Maybe this all played out earlier, or YG lawyers figured out that everything would work itself out, etc., and BB new this before it was released to the public and therefor felt ok with continuing with solo work.

I understand and kinda agree with everyone who says this is a little sketch, but punishing Daesung won't bring their family member back and maybe they didn't want being in the public eye to be even more stretched out so that they can heal in private. and I mean YG probably threw a lot of money at them. all in all I'm glad Daesung is being given a chance to stay in the kpop world.

same. if I put myself in their shoes, if say my sibling was in an accident and killed by somebody, unless they were under some sort of influence, I wouldn't want them to be thrown in jail because of a mistake. Especially if I felt they were truly in grief by what they had done.

Well I'm glad this whole case has finally closed, but I think BigBang next album will be delayed like for another half a year.

i don't see how the part about showing good performances is so "iffy" for people. His job is to be a celebrity, so what else are they gonna say.

And for those idiots who think its sketchy, grow up. Victim's families accept money all the time rather than pursue a court case. It was their choice between real justice and $$$$.

And about the last part, you're totally right. I'm a Law graduated and this is what happens. I lost my father in a car accident and me and my brothers received the insurance. We're not cold-hearts, it's law, it's the legal proceeding.

I don't know if you know about Korean legal system, but they encourage agreements between the involved parts.

I understand how the Korea's legal system works and all but at the same time I feel like all of this will eventually be brushed under the rug and forgotten. I like Daesung but also think he got off easy when it comes to a legal perspective. I know some of you will say that the guilt is enough and I agree to an extent. But he was involved in the accident that resulted the death of another individual. Even though money has been paid to the victim's family I don't think that's enough. I'm not saying he should go to prison for what happened but at least community service should be given out. Is that too much ask?

Yes, it's the way that Korean legal system works. I always found strange how much they encourage the agreements. In my country he would be charged anyway.

No, you're not asking too much. I agree with you. Even if I'm a huge BB stan I agree that he should respond legally. But I'm sure this is not because he is an artist, it's just the way the Korean legal system works.
