Girl group KARA has set yet another milestone for themselves in Japan!

KARA’s fourth Japanese single, “Go Go Summer“, has sold 114,000 copies during its first week of release. As of July 11th, it’s in second place on the Oricon Weekly Chart.

“Go Go Summer” is KARA’s second single to sell over 100,000 copies during its first week, following their third single, “Jet Coaster Love“, which sold 123,000 copies during its first week.

This is a first for any foreign female artist in the Oricon Singles rankings.

With this new addition to their growing list of accomplishments, KARA’s “Mister“, “Jumping“, “Jet Coster Love”, and “Go Go Summer” have all made it to the top five in the Oricon rankings chart.

Congrats Kara

OMONA!!! They sold 9,000 less than Jet coaster love in its first week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

that has to mean that the hallyu wave has died in Japan!
....

CONGRATS KARA! Their hard work keeps paying off but hurry and release a new single because I don't like "Go Go Summer" that much.

there is a post about how Kara is on decline because they sold 9k less in their first week compared to their last single... their hate against Koreans performing in a country were they don't live amazes me.

ikr? everytime(well most) there's an article about kpop there, all the haters flock together so say the same thing over and over and over again LOL im just here thinking, we get it that you don't like kpop but you can't do anything about it and don't even live there so just deal with it.

a post made by someone who's probably a troll. yawn

most people in the post except like 2/3 defending kara. yawn

as much as the kpop hate is annoying there, its also annoying the way people exaggerate it over here and do the same for jpop so . . .

The hate on arama is just...I don't even know why I even go there anymore. I like to check just to see if anyone will ever be happy there, for anybody who is Korean. I also noticed that they hardly had any articles on SHINee and how much their debut single sold, or did they? Either way, I'm really fed up and need to find a new community for Jpop/Japanese related stuff, because I can't with the double standards and xenophobia.

Also to Kara, I ain't a fan but well done to any idol groups that goes to a foreign country, tries to learn the language among their hectic schedules and manages to beat of the haters.

I don't mean to sound rude. But a lot of people in omona are also xenophobic towards their beloved idols debuting in Japan. Many negative comments on how they should stay in Korea, etc. And when Japanese groups/artists do something in Korea (for example SDN48 or Thelma Aoyama performing there) I saw a lot of negative comments. I'm a huge fan of both jpop and kpop, and I'm active in both communities. And the hate and xenophobia come from both communities, not just from one. And not all of the members in arama hate on k-pop. There's actually a lot of members that love their k-pop in Japan (myself included).

You have a point. But I think when people say "stay in Korea" they mean the group/singer should focus on building a good fan base in Korea first before trying in Japan. Well, for the most part anyways. I think a lot of k-pop fans feel that companies are sending idols over there just to make a quick buck instead of actually doing things for the Japanese fan base.

Well, I've seen the whole "stay in Korea" thing with SNSD, SHINee, 2NE1, etc. People getting angry at them for debuting in Japan.

However, I have seen your point. For example with Rainbow, how people want them to work on Korea a little more before expanding to Japan.

Sadly, I think that's the only reason why K-pop groups debut over there, the need of money. :( Since in Korea they can't make nearly as half on what they can make in Japan.

I agree with you. At first I didn't understand why so many groups are going over to Japan until I saw the numbers. A group like 4minute who isn't popular in Japan still sells like twice as much as they'd sell back home, where they're one of the most popular groups. I think Korean companies need to find a way to make more money because everyone can't go to Japan and be successful.

Oh, no.I know that in omona there is a lot of xenophobia, you just have to pick a topic on race to see that. I also know that not everyone is KPOP vs. JPOP , since I love both too, but I still think that if we compare, arama seems to have more hate than omona does, not every-time but most of the time.

I never saw people complaning aout their idols staying in Korea as xenophoic. I always thought that was about keeping each idol singing to the style their fans like i.e. Because often, idols change their music style to suit Japaense taste, and are seen less on Korean variety shows, although your right, may of these comments will be due to xenophobic feelings.

I also thought that usually when there is compliants about SDN48, (don't know Thelma Aoyama), the complaints tend to be more focused on their image as super cute etc.

Not that I'm saying your wrong, it does happen on both side, but I still think that it seems that they seem to gather more on arama posts, than it on omona.

(I'm only talking about arama vs omona here by the way, not general reactions to kpop vs. Jpop).
