Korea's first concert hall dedicated to K-pop opened its doors to the public on Wednesday, June 22nd, in Seoul.
Olympic Hall has been used for concerts in the past, but it wasn't suitable as a concert hall since it was originally built as a tennis court.

After a year of construction and renovation, the venue has been transformed to seat up to 3-thousand people and been upgraded with an improved sound system to make it more suitable for music performances.
Plus, visitors to the opening were greeted by a special exhibition in the lobby, outlining the history of K-pop from the 1920s all the way to the 2000s.

Nearby, a 240-seat small venue was also built to host concerts for indie bands and rising artists.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has been spearheading this project, and the minister shared an optimistic outlook about the new K-pop hall serving as a gateway for spreading the Korean Wave to overseas fans.

[Interview : Roxane Deffit, French K-pop fan] "So it's really exciting to attend the K-Pop concerts and for the first time I will be able to attend it in Seoul. I don't really know what to expect but it's really exciting"

To celebrate Wednesday's opening, K-pop stars from the past and present performed on stage attracting hundreds of fans from around the country.
Performances by iconic stars from the 60s and 70s and the hottest current Korean groups creatively summarized the history of K-pop on one stage.

Face it. A tiara is fitting for a K-pop exclusive conert hall.
I like the small hall. But I like small venues better anyway so...

It's a hall not an arena. 1,000-3,000 seats is pretty typical.

The problem with that tiara, is not that it's a tiara but that it's really cheap looking plastic tiara. I'm sure they just brought a real big one from the £1 shop, and threw it on top thinking it'll look nice.

If for example SNSD want's to perform there, they need to do it atleast 10 days to give all the fans a change.

The hall is too small to be use by big names Kpop artists.

They should had considered the fan group size and rename it to musical stage or theatre. Everybody will love to go see idols in musicals.

Only three thousand people? For a concert? That's tiny. Kpop idols have bigger fan meetings and showcases than that. Also I see a lot of issues with tickets because of how few people can get in. Can't see big name idol groups performing here.
The tiara's cute though

TINY PLACE IS TINY. When I watched SS2 and SS3 the place I was in had around 12-13k fans in it. If in full use in super huge basketball, it could seat around 20k people.

So tiny :/ The fencing arena (SS2) sat 6,000+ until they renovated it for handball. The gymnastics arena (SS3) seats at most just under 15,000 :3
