KARA’s leader Park Gyuri will be making her musical debut with “200 Pounds Beauty“!
Gyuri has been cast for the lead role of ‘Kang Han Byul’ and will be joining the cast this October in Osaka, Japan for an Asian tour. Fans in Korea will be able to see her in the end of November at the CJ Art Center.
For those unfamiliar with the plot, Gyuri will be playing an overweight woman who possesses amazing vocal talent. Due to her physical appearance, however, she is forced to hide herself and sing as a substitute for other prettier artists. Determined to live her own life, she goes under the knife to fix her entire body, and becomes ‘reborn’ as a beautiful new person.
With Jiyoung's release of Merry Love with Supernova's Sungje, Seungyeon's various participation in drama OSTs (the last of which was for Mary Stayed Out All Night), Nicole's filming in Heroes and her plethora of previous individual activities, Hara's filming in City Hunter and university enrollment, Gyuri now adds her musical debut to DJing on Shim Shim Tapa, completing Kara as a veteran group (who recently passed their 4th anniversary) where ALL members are prominent in individual activities.

Date: 2011-06-15 07:43 am (UTC)Her (and a few other KARA members') rep has a lot to do with KARA's songs- higher pitched, closed(?) tone)- and their dance routines. It's really not an ideal singing style for what's demanded of idols although it's also not impossible. These are just my thoughts. :)
