Just two weeks into its broadcast, KBS’s “Immortal Song 2” met with a sharp drop in viewer ratings, placing last for its time slot overall.

According to AGB Nielsen Media Research, the show’s newest episode received 6.0% in viewer ratings, a 1.9% drop compared to the last episode, which received 7.9%. The episode saw the departure of artist IU and the addition of SECRET’s Ji Eun.

Other shows within the same time slot, MBC’s “Infinity Challenge“, MBC’s “We Got Married“, and SBS’s “Star King“, both received higher views, at 15.4%, 8.5% and 9.8%, respectively.

PD Kwon Jae Young stated that he had expected the drop beforehand, “The first episode aimed to show what kind of program ‘Immortal Song 2′ was so we made the episode longer than normal. For the second episode, we wanted to show more about the preparation process the singers were going through, so we expected the drop in viewer ratings. We won’t be paying any concern to the viewer ratings and will continue to show what we have as planned.”

Not suprised. People only watch for their favorite idol and could care less about the others. And most people want Oh My School back

OMS must have ran out of ideas for debate/discussion that they settled for parlor games. so many things changed and went wrong with that show.

I liked both OMS and this show. Maybe it's because I watch the entire thing and not just for my favourites, but I think it's a good show and I'm happy it's continuing and won't be axed.

Who are these "most people" who want OMS back? Non-Korean fans who don't contribute to the ratings?

"We won’t be paying any concern to the viewer ratings and will continue to show what we have as planned.”

I think you'll be paying concern when your show gets cancelled . . .

i actually like this show. it's slowly turning me into a hyorin stan.

i feel like one of the only people who was really bored by OMS

I'm with you tbh, OMS sucked.

Same here. I've dl-ed both full episodes and I love it. I didn't pay much attention to either Changmin or Hyorin before and now I'm stanning them both so hard now. I've only seen short clips of OMS and it never really appealed to me.

I'd like Oh My School back too. LOL but this show is interesting at least. Well for now anyway. And they have a lot of good idols lined up to join or they want to join.

Infinity Challenge and Star King are huge shows in Korea so it's kinda expected.

tbh the ratings will probably end up around WGM's in the end.

Never cared for OMS tbh. This is one of my favorite new shows though and it's gotten me interested in people I really wouldn't have looked at before. I can't wait until the other idols join... And with new people joining every few weeks the ratings are bound to go up and down depending on the person. And my biases aren't even on the show so I'm definitely not watching for them.

tbh, IU leaving probably did have something to do with it. Girl is arguably the most popular with the mainstream audience than everyone else.

and I never was interested in OMS.

Lots of people will come and go with their biases, but I'll bet a lot of casual viewers will be swayed by the fact that not only IU, but several other singers left after a couple episodes. Makes the show sound unstable = possibly not well done, in some peoples minds.

as much as I like to laugh & enjoy the sometimes extreme stupid situations or even concept of shows like OMS (btw I don't remember watching more than 2 episodes of OMS & it was probably for my biases being there as guests those times), I'd definitely prefer Immortal Song to them

I love music & I enjoy listening to beautiful voices whoever the artist is & though Yesung is the reason why I was first interested in this show, I'm gonna still watch it

We won’t be paying any concern to the viewer ratings and will continue to show what we have as planned.
fighting Mr PD! but I know the cruel reality of ratings will probably/evetually make you do otherwise

I enjoyed OMS but I'm really enjoying this show, too. And it seems to be in a really tough timeslot - going up against Infinity Challenge, We Got Married, AND Star King? Jeez.

My biggest concern for this show is that it seems to require a whole lot of preparation. But at the same time, that's part of what makes it such a great watch.

And I think part of what makes this show more enjoyable for me is that I was mostly only interested in OMS when people I cared about were on, whereas regardless of whether my biases are on Immortal Song or not, I'm excited to hear the music.

Although, I do have to admit I was hoping Yoseob would stay on longer...So there could be more Yoseob/Jieun...

old Oh My School (sans forcing Minseo) was good but I'd like Immortal Song 2 more. I'm disappointed though that Round 1 and Tournament were sliced into 2 episodes now when all I'm after is the tournament part anyways.

The OMS episode where Heechul came on was golden.

Still, this show is up against some other big shows here.

It's a brand new show going up against some popular and very well established shows. It's hardly surprising it's last in the time slot tbh - the first show did better than the first because of people's curiosity. Unless it totally blows viewers out of the water, the drop is pretty natural (and probably more so with variety shows compared to dramas and such, since at least the drama has plot to continue making you a bit curious).
