“YG ON AIR” #6 featuring final 2NE1 “Lonely” live session

 After the cancellation last week, a new episode of YG Entertainment’s “YG ON AIR” broadcasted on June 10th, and it was once again filled with exclusive YG-related footage not seen elsewhere.

”YG ON AIR” is a collaborative project with Korean portal site Naver, which consists of media content that YGE directly produces. YG had planned this for a long time, as they had wanted to break away from the limitations of broadcast programs, ultimately creating fun content based on their own ideas.

This week’s broadcast featured the final live session of 2NE1’s recent release, “Lonely“.

I know dara has a naturally weak voice but it always seems like she's holding back.. I reckon if she just confidently belted it, it would sound great (a la sohee in 2DT)

MTE! I felt that even more in this performance whenever it went from Minzy to Dara or from CL to Dara it was just so obvious how weak her voice sounded but it does sound like she's not confident in her voice. If she just gave it her all without holding back I'm sure she'd sound much better.

Dara continues to be the weakest vocal but it stands out even more because the other 3 have such powerful and confident voices. she doesn't sound bad though, just needs improvement.

Dudes I thought Dara's vocals improved a lot during the "Go Away" performances but DAMN home girl needs to improve on her ballad singing. Her note on the "~shipeo" part of the "ije nal chatgo sipeo" is cringe-worthy. Bom sounds great though. She seems a lot more relaxed in this setting versus on a big stage.

CL's hair makes me miss Amy Winehouse.

Still, these YG on Air perfs make me realize how live bands are a lost art in the current K-pop scene. Approaches like this and Music Travel La La La's should make a comeback.
