Super Junior's Japanese single "Bonamana" takes 2nd on Oricon Charts

Super Junior released their first Japanese single, "Bonamana," a re-recorded version of their 2010 Korean hit, on June 8th. It was reported that this single is not Super Junior's official debut single. Despite that, Super Junior entered the Oricon Daily Chart for singles reaching 2nd place on the first day of release.

According to the Oricon Chart, Super Junior sold 27,168 units of "Bonamana." Taking first place is Kanjani Eight (関ジャニ∞) with the single "３６５日家族," which sold 77,574 units and was also released on June 8th.

Super Junior will be joining the rest of their SM family to perform in Paris, France this weekend for the first Kpop European concert, SMTOWN LIVE in Paris, on June 10th and 11th.

this is good. and i love that it isn't an "official" debut ..... which honestly would be silly since they have been popular in japan for years that they don't really need a debut there.

Besides, it's almost a logistical nightmare to have all of them be in Japan at the same time. I'm glad they're not officially debuting like everyone else has. They don't need Japan anyway.

because in a way they already have Japan, without even any type of "official" debut. the special shows they have done there in the past, KRY concerts, tv concerts, etc. they have no need to "officially" debut like the other groups.

i wasn't even thinking economically, but yeah. why waste the money with these extra promotions when they already have that country lovin them. look at the pictures of the lines around the stadium when they did SS3. plus they have been in the country for years doing special bit (tv specials, KRY concerts, etc). there is absolutely no need for them to officially debut, when they already rock it....cause that is how SuJu rolls.

You just need to avoid big shots like AKB48, EXILE, ARASHI, etc. You can easily end up on Oricon Daily Chart #1. 27,000 units on Oricon is kinda pathetic though, sorry

A SM rep stated, "even thought they will be releasing a single in Japanese, they will not be doing any promotion activity in the country. Their official debut will occur at a later time."

Well, they didn't even make it even just a HALF of KanJani∞ sales of 77,574; and they got just 27,168. They should not just debut/release any when the BIG NAMES; AKB48, ARASHI, KATTUN, NAMIE AMURO, etc- are in there, cause they might end up probably way below. Oh well, just release when AKB48 and ARASHI is not releasing. Ganbatte kudasai ne Supa Juniya!

I know nothing about the Japanese market, but from what I'm seeing, they aren't doing that bad considering it's not even a debut and they don't plan on promoting there.

I don't think Japan is their point of concentration so they're not making a big deal out of doing local promotions. In the great masterplan of SME, TVXQ conquers Japan and Suju is for China. However, SJ has built a solid fanbase in Japan despite not "officially" debuting so SME thinks--why pass up that chance to make some extra bucks by releasing a song for the Japanese fans?
