Jeong Seok-won drops out of Hooray for Love cuz he is a pure hearted man w/ no flaws

Actor Jeong Seok-won voluntarily stepped down from MBC drama "Hooray for Love".

Jeong Seok-won recently told the "Hooray for Love" staff that he is stepping down. He shot the first episode but the staff's interpretation of the character and his was the reason he gave for stepping down.

His management said, "The nature of the character in the drama who was a married man with a child, lame and unfaithful was a little forcing on Jeong Seok-won who is only in his 20s and it wasn't what we thought in the beginning".

Jeong Seok-won was asked to star in this drama last May but as he was so busy with the movie he did with Rain and Sin Se-kyeong, he had refused. However, due to the production's insistency he had accepted the request.

His management revealed, "We soon realized that the character in the script was different from the actual character when shooting so he shot the first episode but just like we worried, it didn't suit him. Therefore, under agreement with the production, he has decided to step down".

Jeong Seok-won is planning on focusing on his movie "Flight: Close to the Sun". "Jeong Seok-won has received many love calls for projects due at the end of this year so he should decided on something soon".

I can understand being a little tiffed that you go into a project thinking you're playing one character, as that's most likely what attracts them to the project, and then they change it on set. But getting up and walking out over it? How much did they change his character?
I'm of the mindset that it's a role, and if he thought he wasn't prepared for such a role maybe he should have tried challenging himself to do it. Then again, it seems he has a ton of projects being offered to him, so he can afford to be choosy.

lol The way they put it makes it sound like they think he can't act well enough to portray someone completely unlike himself. I don't know if I've ever seen him act--saying that just to be fair.

That's what I thought too. He used to be a stuntman and started acting a few years ago. Not saying that a stuntman can't be an actor, but I think this would've been his first lead role. Maybe nerves got the best of him.

I think he's using this as an opportunity to abandon a sinking ship. The drama doesn't look impressive at all and without Jae Hee it doesn't have much going for it.

that's a really suspect reason to drop out of a drama...if every actor dropped out of a project bc they didn't want to be viewed a certain way, who would play anyone that wasn't cute and do-good all the time?

How do you get into a project and have the character in the script be *that* different from the one on the set that you suddenly lose all confidence in acting the character?
I wonder if something else is up.
